It's not as if pointless drama isn't happening on literally every internet message board ever. It's not just GDC.

Don't pretend like you've never cheated on GDC with another messaging board.

I would never commit such an atrocity.

Yeah I've been spending way too much time on Good Charlotte Community.

I'm as excited about GD as ever! I am enjoying this process though, having more and more details slowly leak out. I think we'll get some kind of major announcement by summer.

I just want Green Day to make a good album. Doesn't have to sell a lot of copies, but just go places you haven't before. There's nothing to lose.

I can't agree more.

I disagree with this. I don't think their legacy is cemented. If they continue putting out solid music until the end of their careers it will be. But if they change their style this late into their career and it turns out unsuccessful critically and/or commercially there is a chance that it might hurt their legacy. That may be the deciding factor in how future generations will see Green Day, or if they will even hear of Green Day.

They were inducted into the HoF last year. You don't think their legacy is pretty well cemented?

If you like Weezer, come stop by the good ol' Weezer Boards at allthingsweezer.com I'm PKMN Trainer Blue there.

Agreed, and every GD album has gone somewhere new (whether you like where they went or not). I don't think their legacy is budging, nor do I think that's what they should be thinking about when making music.

To be honest, if anything is gonna damage their legacy, it's a 37 song trilogy of completely self-indulgent albums with like nine good songs between them. I *like* the trilogy, but from an objective standpoint it's the worst thing they've done. At this point, whether they go hardcore or jazz fusion, they really have nowhere to go but up.

I do agree that their legacy is pretty well cemented, though. If you've been around for 30 years and people still care this much, that reputation isn't going anywhere. Green Day fans are great because even if they put out a crap album (like, say, ¡Dos!), we'll still find something we like about it and they'll move massive volumes of CDs and records and sell out stadium shows. We're honestly one of the more dedicated fanbases I've seen, and there's a fuckload of casual fans too.

Plus, we're MUCH better looking than the KISS Army.

Some hardcore Green Day would be fantastic.  Drop-B guitar tunings, double kick drum, screaming, etc. Do it, Billie.

There are 3 or 4 songs I listen to on that album and skip the rest. Just doesn't do it for me in any way. I don't like it. Not a huge fan of the sound, not a huge fan of the lyrics, just not a fan of the album.

You guys never heard American Idiot? Well thank god you didn't.
