You got many great songs so stfu . this is just a gift . enjoy it or not in the end  your country is not gonna compete on Eurovision with this song. this is not a new album either.like it or stay away from it.

You're better off not engaging.

This is a huge overreaction on my part, but something about this song just turned on a switch in my head. I kept hoping Green Day could change and start making quality stuff again, but I think that their time is up. I'll always love their catalog of albums, but I think it's time to cut off my devotion to this band and accept that they are simply existing to exist rather than to create. Billie shows no desire to revamp their sound or improve at all. It's just a Christmas song, but it's about their mentality and their approach, and this is a bad sign of what's to come. If I criticize other bands for getting shitty and staying the same, I can't give Green Day a pass without being biased. So I think this song just took me out of line for their next album pre-order if it comes.

What if this is a trilogy b-side, though? Something that's left over from the past, and not necessarily indicative of the future?

Wtf is Eurovision?

And I'm honestly sick of this GD fanbase mentality too. "Like it or gtfo." Seriously? We can't engage in a good conversation because you can't deal with dissenting opinions? This is music. A product. A band. I'm not fucking insulting your mother.

Then my only complaint would be why even put out such a shitty song from years ago?

Hahaha, I really don't think this is anything to be taken seriously. Just a reminder to fans that they're still hanging out making and recording music!!!

All good signs!!

Happy holidays, GDC!!!

Yeah, it sounds better than the Trilogy but still too much on the vocal filters. It's not awful, but it's not great.

Honestly though, are there any GOOD Christmas songs? They're all kind of cheesy and overdone. :P

I will forever stand by Stiff Little Fingers' cover of White Christmas.

It's a European song contest where the music is truly, utterly appalling. Google something along the lines of "worst Eurovision entries", you'll see what I mean.

damn gdc is full of new green day backlash. it all comes back to "everything after [..] was bad" stuff. no it's not .and predicting green day's future with one christmas song? green day never repeated themselves and i'm sure the new album will be different as well.

if you think that was repeating then you don't follow many bands. Why was it repeating?Politics?Rock opera?that's just a cliche thought.  The songs are different and they have violin, piano ,every damn thing they have never tried before. What could they possibly do to not repeat themselves? they have more than 200 songs. let's see new bands writing that amount of songs and making it different everytime.and writing about something new.it's fucking hard and 21st cb is so different than American Idiot

I actually think you could be right. This was probably written and recorded 3 years ago but they saw no good time to release it before now and if so, that sounds like a familiar story...When It's Time.

Uh guys, I don't think you like Green Day anymore. It's okay to walk away from this forum if so, just letting you know that.

This song is making me so happy today, so glad to have them back. Also, I know it's only a fun little Xmas tune, but it sounds like a nice evolution from TRE! which is super cool.

even if the song itself is kinda "trashy..lame..etc. " i am rly diggin to it, nice melody .. thanks GD!

(i wouldnt compare this song to other GD songs or their current style, this xmas song is a nice gift for the fans, nothing to hardly judge about "mimimi new direction sucks.." )

I admit that I only listened to the song once and didn't find it to be all that special. That said, it's hysterical that anybody could be so critical of it because

1. It's new, and

2. It's free; a nice gesture when they could have kept quiet through the end of the year

This is more Green Day music than we had yesterday. Anyone who doesn't appreciate it for that simple fact is free to do so, but they're also free to take a walk. More for the rest of us.

This is the opening track of their new Christmas album which comes out tomorrow. I believe they're only making one copy and Martin Shkreli has already bought it.

I'll consider this my first 2015 Christmas gift. Firstly, I have to say i hate christmas songs so I'm taking this with a grain of salt. It's not bad, it's fun and i enjoyed it. Will I go back and listen to it again? Probably not, but that doesn't mean I'm disappointed.

Billie should fuck off with those filters I have to agree with this.

:woot: What a lovely surprise! Nice fun festive song complete with sleigh bells and guitar solo, love that they've put it out on Christmas Eve as a gift to us. You know the level of bah humbug is too high when people are complaining that a lighthearted Christmas song doesn't have raw punx vocals . At least it isn't played down the phone like those Christmas covers they did for greenday.com back in the day. I've just spent the day celebrating Christmas with my family a day early, a special Green Day surprise makes a perfect ending to it.
