Mar Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Not the best thing in the world, but hey, I'll take it! Unfortunately, today's other surprise Christmas Eve song release more accurately reflects how Christmas really is and speaks more effectively to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3kPH2MJzlg
Libertine Angel Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Only GDC could have a ten page debate on the merits of a happy little Christmas number. In which one of the main defenders is a guy called Grinch.

I don't know why this is showing up as a quote of MysticManiac......I can't make new replies for some reason. GRRRRRR.
bollard_11 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Meh, not great at all. Feels like something thrown together last minute. Judging it compared to Christmas songs, not Green Day songs. Considering how many rock bands have Christmas songs out there, this seems a weak effort in comparison.
stich Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Sorry Green Day this is a catchy song, but I can relate to only one Xmas song: I Won't Be Home For Christmas by Blink-182

WhiteTim Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Best Christmas song is Merry Fucking Christmas by Denis Leary https://youtu.be/g4G_qTwgzmk

The title is Happy holidays you bastard, but I didn't like the song like the one I mentioned in my post. In later years I've became Less Blink 182 fan but during this time of the year I won't be home for christmas's lyrics speak to me better than any other songs
Chin for a Day Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I have to admit that when I first heard the song, I was like it is a cute Christmas song but nothing spectacular. But, I find myself humming it as I'm getting ready for dinner. It is really catchy.

I do have to say that "Xmas Time of the Year" is kind of a clumsy title , but it's endearing somehow.

Illuminati Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 Fun song. Very thankful for this gift. I'll take anything Green Day throws at me because my love of the band is just insane. In my world they cant fail lol. But I have to admit, I really enjoy ceadogs posts and the clever, brutally honest and interesting way he stirs sh*t up. He's actually one of the reasons I even follow these threads. Wouldnt be much of a point following a board where everyone agrees. No offence to anyone. Cant wait for some new Green Day material in 2016 but I'm not convinced that will be the case.
Z J Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I mean the lyrics are absolutely fine by Christmas song standards, and at least they made their own song instead reprising Jingle Bell Rock or something. But I just hope this isn't some indication that we're gonna be stuck listening to an awkward mid-tempo, filtered vocal, and toy guitar sound for the next album. We had three of those albums already, that was enough.
Alan86 Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 "Christmas time of the year" is the only thing that annoys me about the song.
Private Ale. Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I see people getting happy for small shitty gifts they got and i saw green day fans hating their gift non-stop, Were green day bad parents or are we spoiled children? or is it because we want more cause we're getting bored and going nowhere fast? and by the way it's almost 2016 and someone still can say "lame, this is not punk!!" and media still can call Green Day punk, they even call this song "dad-punk" it seems like a new genre green day invented .Years later, we'll see people claiming "Green Day is not real dad-punk!!" In the end, dad-punk will be dead as well. Happy new year .

unextraordinarygirl Posted December 25, 2015 Posted December 25, 2015 I listened to the song again and then it hit me..This song reminds me of "Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Band Aid. It sounds similar to me. I dont know if anyone else hears it.
