I go through phases. Sometimes I'll listen religously, then I'll avoid them completely. Then I'll burry them in a shuffled playlist which results in me appreciating them a lot more when they come on shuffle!

Listening to Green Day a lot/without a break doesn't mean you can't listen to other music or have broad musical horizons though. I listen to them frequently and I don't go through long periods of not listening to them but I also listen to a wide variety of other music.

To the original poster: Don't think that because you're growing up and becoming an adult that you can't still listen to Green Day. I'm an adult and have been listening to them for a long time.

This! Why can't people get this??? Why would you have to stop listening to Green Day for a period of time to appreciate other bands/music?

Really, every time a thread of the kind of this one is opened, there's loads of "open up your horizons" comments, that don't even have to do with what the original poster is saying, I don't get it.

Yeah I mean if someone specifically says that they only listen to Green Day it makes sense. But you can definitely listen to one band a lot and still listen to/discover loads of other music at the same time, it isn't necessary to stop one to do the other.

But maybe the point being made here is that there's no need to try and force carrying on listening to Green Day when you don't feel like it, when you could just listen to other artists that you do feel like listening to instead until if and when you get the urge for Green Day again, which I agree with. Not certain if the OP is more trying to force it or more actually now in the mood and wanting some good suggestions of Green Day stuff to enjoy though.

But listening to other artists because you don't feel like listening to Green Day in this moment isn't quite opening up your horizons. It would only be that if the OP is stating or at least implying that he only listens to Green Day as you say, which didn't happen.

I haven't properly listened to green day in months, although I still love the songs if they come on shuffle, I don't feel an urge to listen anymore.

i think it's a case of needing new music

Um... why is it even an issue...? I´m on/off every time (right now rather off, because other stuff ist more interesting to me) with anything and anybody. And I find new things that get me excited. Until they fade away. Just normal for me. Love feelings come and go. :)

Im slowing becoming an adult and im worried that ill grow out of Green Day, as many of you know, a love for GD is not a phase like our parents suggest, but im finding it hard to get hyped when I listen to them like I used too. What do you guys do to get hyped when listening too them? Any favorite live shows? (even though i already have a shit tone) Do you play an instrument along with them? I wanna feel the hype! Help me out guys!

Pick the album you listen to least over the years and start listening to it.

Yep..... The other day when I went to visit the forum, I had to log back in!!  That hasn't happened for years.   I guess my advice would be to  just go easy on yourself...it will get better when they are doing some new stuff(?!?!?!,!)

In the meantime,  I feel like Longview .....

Until few months ago , i had spent a year when i didn't listen too much green day, meanwhile i listened to different type of music and discovered few green day songs that i didn't know before (like In the end ,suffocate ) and those were the songs i listened from them. The ones i knew before were out of my list for some time. Then i missed it and came back .For few months i listen to all of their songs and giving a chance to ones i didn't like before.

To be clearer, you don't have to stop listening to them .Just give a try to ones you listened  less and discover some of their songs if you haven't.And if you don't get excited or hyped it's always great to think about their stories . For instance, i always think of the story behind 86 when i listen to it. It's a song that is too repetitive but when i think about some quite hard times that resulted as the song i get the feeling of it and that makes me listen to "There is no return from 86" line for over and over. A lot times it's not how masterpiece or un-boring the song is but stories behind them are really exciting for me.

But they just announced their new Coffee line!  Haha.  What ever happened to "No Pleasing a Woman"????

And "Give Me Novacaine" is getting some serious air time on rock stations, at least in my neck of the woods.

Here's some interesting facts about album release dates.  Even though it feels like the longest wait ever (and no sign of cool side projects in sight), I believe our longest wait is behind us.

1 year, 9 months, 4 days (between 1039 and Kerplunk)

2 years, 15 days (between Kerplunk and Dookie)

1 year, 8 months, 9 days (between Dookie and Insomniac)

2 years, 4 days (between Inomniac and Nimrod)

2 years, 11 months, 19 days (between Nimrod and Warning)

3 years, 11 months, 18 days (between Warning and American Idiot)

4 years, 7 months, 24 days (between American Idiot and Breakdown)

3 years, 4 months, 9 days (between Breakdown and Uno)

0 years, 1 month, 20 days (between Uno and Dos)

0 years, 0 months, 28 days (between Dos and Tre)

Tre released on December 11, 2012

So Album 12 must be released on or before August 4th, 2017 or it will be the longest wait ever.  (I certainly hope 12 drops before this....)

As of December 26, 2015 we've waited 3 years and 15 days for ALBUM 12.
