scratch the childrens album idea I posted,I want a rap album featuring Jay-Z,Taylor Swift and Kurt Cobain's ghost! :D

Green Day don't do a lot of Collaborations.  They individually play with tons of other musicians but never bring it to a Green Day LP.  Lady Cobra's the only guest vocalist to ever appear on an album.    Outside of their own albums they have been featured in songs by Iggy Pop and U2....that's it.   It's not really a standard practice for any rock bands I suppose but I'd love to hear them do it.   Jay-Z could work.  I'd love to hear something with Anthony Keidis or Dave Grohl.....although now that I say it, that sounds like a really kick-butt super-group/side project!   The Green Hot Chili Fighters!          I'm got off topic but seriously....back to Album 12.  One track with a banging Jay-Z rap at the climax would be really cool.   Heck, I'd be up for Lady Cobra to give it another crack.  All you guys hating on Nightlife, maybe do something different this time around.   Her bands pretty rocking.

Yes! Jay Z's collaboration with Linkin Park was great, with Green Day it would be amazing.

That was what got me into Linkin Park.  Not so much Jay Z though.

Okay.  Billie Joe and Jay-Z.

For fun play play these two videos at the same time:

Good to see Hip Hop being brought up besides me and Cameron posting it, however I would definitely pick someone else other than Jay.

The only thing is that they are all such good vocalists, I'm not sure how that band would be arranged.  I'd hate to relegate Dave to drum duty, or Billy Joe on guitar or bass. and Anthony can't do much but sing.  Should it be a band where they trade off playing different instruments and singing?

Here's a more thought out super-group (or, so I won't get in trouble, an idea for a song from album 12):

Billie Joe:  Vocals

Johnny April :Bass

John Frusciante:  Guitar, backing vocals

Travis Barker:  Drums

Graind Hot-82.

If you ever heard Anthony Kiedis sing without auto tuning you would not be saying that.  And please, no Dave Grohl.

I actually haven't heard Anthony keidis sing live so maybe ur right but Dave Grohl I like as a drummer not a singer but probably not the best thought out combination on reflection but sounded like it would b good when I first read ir

Anthony Kiedis cannot sing at all.

Nightlife was one of the most fun songs they have ever done.

Do not worry, it's not just you, it's everyone that will not give rap a chance. If you go in to the song with the mindset of all rap is crap, you will never like the song.

I really don't care where they go sonically. I know that even if it's not the best there will still be some songs I know I'll enjoy. Even when they did new things like Kill the DJ and Nightlife I enjoyed them. I just want some more new music!

I'd always want most of the singing to be done by Billie obviously but it's cool to have the occasional song where you hear the others, they have distinctive voices and styles so it's interesting. A taste of Mike, Tre and Jason singing on the next album would be cool, Jason's a better singer than Mike or Tre so I see no reason to leave him out!

Hey, we actually agree on something Green Day-related! :D

I would love to hear more non-Billie Joe vocals, although unfortunately I think the attempted "experimental" trilogy was likely our biggest chance to hear those, and it sadly never happened. With the correct editing, I really don't mind hearing Mike or Tre sing, although I don't think it's something they should look to include in a potential hit single, or do live often. But it is fun to hear those sort of experimental songs, and when the songs switch between them and Billie Joe I think it makes you appreciate his voice even more.

And y'know, now that I think about it, I'd rather hear Mike and Tre sing like they did on Homecoming than Billie Joe's vocals from that fucking Christmas song any day.

And me :P. Who would you pick? A younger/more modern act like Kendrick maybe? I think Jay's vocals would work with virtually anyone though, couldn't say no to hearing that collaboration. Lil Wayne likes Green Day, he's mentioned them in his lyrics more than once, wouldn't mind hearing him on a track with them either.

I like Nightlife but Lady Cobra's verses are hardly an example of stellar rapping (barely even qualifies as rapping really), you don't have to think all rap is crap to dislike it.

I think there's probably always room for a funny Tre bonus track or a Mike track if he felt like writing a song, Billie's said before he'd like for Mike to write/sing on more songs and I believe that, he's a big fan of Mike. Or one with random bits of vocals from them like Homecoming. They still seem to be a real little gang of friends who have fun trying out stuff like that so I think it's always possible they'll feel like doing something like that when they get together in the studio.

I always joke with the dude that only Billie can do the singing but I do agree it would be nice to hear an occasional funny Tre track or Mike doing a vocal, but it still has to be Billie doing the lead vocals.  But, I think it comes down to is that I don't think Mike enjoys it.  I don't know why, I've just always gotten that impression that he likes hanging out and playing his bass.  Maybe that will change.

Also, I didn't mind the Xmas Song.  It wasn't anything earth shattering, but it was catchy.  I found myself humming it alot.  But, the really big problem with it is that Billie's vocals were just god awful.  Hopefully, they will improve for the new album.  If not, I might join the "Let Mike sing" bandwagon.

Yeah I think that too, he did do like half the lead vocals on The Network stuff (although even then he looked kind of awkward doing it live) but other than that he seems to prefer not being the frontman and would rather stick to bass and backing vocals, including in a side project like The Frustrators where you'd think he might have a go at singing lead if he wanted a chance to do it. The way Billie mentioned it was like he wished he could get Mike to write/sing more. I hope we'll continue to get the occasional song from him though.

When/where did Billie say he wanted Mike to write/sing more?   Very interesting.  I know I've said a million times for Mike, Tre and Jason to do vocals, and everyone always shoots it down in a big way.  Just one song by anyone other than Billie.  Let Billie sing the rest, but give someone else one freakin' song!   A secret song, bonus track, something!
