Where do you personally think Green Day should go sonically with their next record?

I guess I can understand that but Idk man I love ska and if done well, not all ska sounds the same.

I would not call King for a Day Ska by any means.  It is not even remotely close to a reggae beat.  It is more of an oompa band beat.

Think any of us will actually hit the nail on the head in this thread?  Really?  And if someone does, will they make a big deal about it?     I hope that the next album will be a success, but at this stage in the game....I don't know.  We are seeing a lot of 90's band quickly becoming nostalgic and/or un-relevant these days and like many of us here, I'm worried.  I liked the trilogy sounds and X-mas Time of the Year but the next album needs to ROCK.  Like, ROCK THE PLANET.  Have some pop-songs in there for sure, along side some face-melting shredding and "Take Back" style snarling.    Plenty of things to sing about.  Racism, dying musicians, Billie drinking problem, Jason's illness and Mike supporting his wife's illness.  Coffee shops opening up.  Acting career.  Broadway musicals.   Donald Trump would be an easy target.........Also, we can't forget they also need to destroy Pop-Punk while singing about all this.  Maybe Tonald Drump could sing on a track or something.  Gotta go before someone curses at me for not "stopping making epic posts".    Jerk.

Get more of that Boss ds1 and get rid of Boss blues driver. More Seymour Duncan. Hey can't we just ban those vocal filters used in triology. some more guitar, bass and drums solos. and a complementary song from Tre Cool!!

If Billie is replaced with any One Direction member, I won't be the only one making fuss about it. :P

I'm trying not to expect much so I'm not disappointed and to be realistic, at this point they are more likely to release a mediocre album or another flop than rock the planet.

Does anyone know the name of the that song Billie sang at the American Idiot Broadway shows?  He introduced it as being about "a girl from New York" or something like that.  What was that called?   Maybe it will be on the new album!

Yes and no.  I am not a radio head fan, especially that album.  But this was more along the lines of the last thing I want is for GD to do a similar one.

Well then if you don't like Kid A (or any other Radiohead album other than Pablo Honey) then you're absolutely 100% wrong. :)

But yeah, I was just throwing that out there.

Hahaha haha hahaha  I'm never wrong

Plus why do we keep wanting GD to be someone else?  I want a new GD album not GD pretending to be radiohead or anyone else

Well you're wrong here. sorrynotsorry

I don't want Green Day to be someone else. They can do whatever the fuck they want. I'll still buy it. R.E.M., Smashing Pumpkins, and Cake went electronic but I still bought those albums and I loved them. I also love albums where it's the signature sound of those respective bands. I never got why people get so angry when artists change up their sound.

I never said you did, though. I meant people in general.

Still wrong about Radiohead, though. :P

Anyone see that ugly photo of Billie on Facebook today?  That could totally be the new album cover.  It will either be called Mr. Whirly or Ugly Uno.  It will be followed by Dookie Dos and Tehran Tre.  The fourth disc will be (gasp) film.....it contains a two hour guitar dual between all four members.  It will be called Coca Cola Cuarto....   Ugly Uno is the live raw sound Billie has been talking about forever.  Dookie Dos is just what the name implies - The classic Green Day sound infused with the Tubs and just a dash of Network and other side projects.  All over the map and super trashy.   Tehran Tre will be Green Day's first entirely political album (let's face it, American Idiot was about what most art is about, a boy and a girl and a dream.  and drugs) featuring the most aggressive sound the band has ever done.  One song is 20 minutes long and somewhere along the way goes into a Dead Mermaids direction with Tre vocals and norwegian death metal style.  Then Mike takes the mic and does a really cool 10 minutes epic solo called "Trump-anator", ending with him screaming "You're f(woo)ing fired"  over and over and you can hear the other three guys singing part of Homecoming and American Idiot and Whatshername as it all fades to black.

And that is what the boys have for us in 2016.

I honestly could see Green Day doing something more like the stoner rock sound, like what Queens of the Stone Age and Kyuss do. Wouldn't be a huge change for them and I think it would sound pretty damn cool.

Hopefully some carnival music

Plot twist, the band start dropping acid before each show and become a jam band playing for hours.
