Where do you personally think Green Day should go sonically with their next record?

It was in the 21st CB era, I remember it because he was being sweet saying Mike was a good songwriter but I can't remember any exact quotes from it so I can't find it

Green Day don't do a lot of Collaborations.  They individually play with tons of other musicians but never bring it to a Green Day LP.  Lady Cobra's the only guest vocalist to ever appear on an album.    Outside of their own albums they have been featured in songs by Iggy Pop and U2....that's it.   It's not really a standard practice for any rock bands I suppose but I'd love to hear them do it.   Jay-Z could work.  I'd love to hear something with Anthony Keidis or Dave Grohl.....although now that I say it, that sounds like a really kick-butt super-group/side project!   The Green Hot Chili Fighters!          I'm got off topic but seriously....back to Album 12.  One track with a banging Jay-Z rap at the climax would be really cool.   Heck, I'd be up for Lady Cobra to give it another crack.  All you guys hating on Nightlife, maybe do something different this time around.   Her bands pretty rocking.        

Haha but for real I was just thinking on what would happen if Dave Grohl and Billie made a song together,but I think the rock world would explode,2 of the best rock bands from the last 20 years making a song together? I would have a heart attack.

6th day of 2016 and no news about their new album. Expect it by spring, and tour in summer. I hope they wont rip off their old songs, like they did with trilogy. A song like bohemian rhapsody would have been insane

Why does everyone hate this idea?  I demand a serious song from Tre Cool.  A rocking hit single led by him!  Mike wrote JAR which was a successful song (on the new album.  I'd hate to get off topic).

Even if they record in spring, it won't come out until fall so it hits the xmas market.

Even if they shape a song around an existing riff that has only been played live, it could sound good and I've heard a band do that recently *cough* Muse *cough*.

What would happen if Billie Joe Armstrong left Green Day and they continued without him on Album 12?  Would you guys want a new person to join the band on vocals/guitar, or could Mike/Tre/Jason step up and take on vocals?  Would you pick Mike because he'd be the only original member, Tre because he's gotten to sing the least over the years, or Jason because Pinhead Gunpowder is awesome and Green Day's next album should really just be Pinhead Gunpowder III (Kind of like Dos was Foxboro Hot Tubs II).   I don't want Billie to leave, and I doubt if they would soldier on without him but at this point....I just want other people to pick which they would prefer if they couldn't have Billie singing.   The band decided to continue without Billie, so PICK ONE.   New lead singer or another band member?    I would have to say Jason takes lead vocals, with Mike writing most of the lyrics but Jason and Tre helping, and the band could still have potential.   Who would be a good addition to Green Day?   We are fortunate our favorite band hasn't went through the insane line-up changes other bands have.  Some bands don't have a single original member!

 The next album should feature Tre as the only vocalist and the album should be called....Mike!

If this catastrophe happened i would be devastated But I'd prefer Mike's vocals. They do sound very punk rock to me and I could get behind them. Governor sounds pretty kick ass. And he is a good songwriter to me. Tre would be too nasally? Jason's voice doesn't really fit the image i see for green day.

Tre,Mike,Jason all have good voices but Jason should be lead singer.And i think they can all write songs, Tre has his own style (i think All by myself is a great song) but most of the songs should be written by Mike. That's only because he wrote J.A.R ,but that's a really good song.

Yet again,  i'm glad this is only a What-if talk .

I can conclude their sound for next album in 3 ways:

1. During 21stCB tour they covered a variety of bands like Black Sabbath, GN'R, The Who, Lynrd Skynrd, Led Zeppelin and hell even they covered The Misfits for wishing Metallica. For their trilogy style they cited AC/DC and Beatles as influences but I think they messed up in combining all these and hence many fans didn't liked it. But it is highly probable they will continue with this same style.

2. In demolitious they recorded trilogy songs in proper "punk" style like 39/smooth and kerplunk. So they can get into hardcore punk/ alternative metal for next album or at least crossover thrash metal can be more accessible to them.

3. They can turn into sludge metal (still hardcore but slower & with complex pickings) just like Black Flag or can combine funk in their music like Bad Brains. If not all these melodic hardcore can also be okay with me.
