sara_gd Posted September 9, 2015 Author Posted September 9, 2015 I disagree with Tre being extroverted. The dude is clearly terrified of the intense fan attention generated by his fame and hides his true personality as much as possible behind a silly exterior. That could be right, I was thinking of bringing up Cometbus but I see more people thought about it already I don't know if he'd be an introvert though... maybe it's just that he doesn't like people much, that can happen to introverts and extroverts as far as I know. But that he has a mask on is probably right I think. I think this thread's going a bit too far in terms of obsession.I know I'm obsessed, oh well But every thought I posted has to do with lyrics, interviews, and stuff they let us see, people can talk about stuff a lot more intrusive than this. Pretty sure it's not possible to accurately analyse someone's personality type without even meeting them.Yep that's why I stated at the beggining that you can't really tell, not even if you know them personaly, it's just guessing, and some people are easier to guess than others also. None of them are cool INFP's like me.I'm INFP too haha.
Guest Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Yeah I agree that they're obviously total opposites, and that was his impression of Tre. Just saying his impression is just that though, his impression, so it'll be biased in various ways like anyone else's would be.I think it's a bit ridiculous to disregard our best source on Tré's personality due to perceived bias simply because you don't like what you read.

In other words fans don't want to believe that a member of the band they love is a dick but a friend and respected punk writer is saying he is and it's pretty close minded to ignore it because you want to believe in some fantasy.
Hermione Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I think it's a bit ridiculous to disregard our best source on Tré's personality due to perceived bias simply because you don't like what you read.I'm not disregarding it. I was the one who brought it up as the best insight into their personalities. I just don't think we should disregard the fact that it's just one guy's impression either. Some great insights into what they're like yes, on the same level as a certified psychological assessment no. It feels to me more like fans don't want to see Tré as Aaron has described him. In other words fans don't want to believe that a member of the band they love is a dick but a friend and respected punk writer is saying he is and it's pretty close minded to ignore it because you want to believe in some fantasy.Nope, I believe everything he said he observed Tre say and do. I don't agree with all of his opinions/judgements about it (although I do agree with many of them). And even though it is insightful, I don't think reading the impressions of a friend spending time with them on tour gives anything like the same insight as knowing them or being a psychologist meeting with them and analysing them would. That's all I'm saying.
unextraordinarygirl Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I can't say what their personalities are like since I don't know them personally. I think they all put on an act on stage and in interviews too. Only their families know what they are truely like.
Todd Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 This is true, although it does seem he might be a little biased as he was closer to Billie and Mike (having known them longer and been their roadie) and was good friends with John and evidently preferred that band line up. As we've discussed I think he was slightly harsh about Tre at times (although other times it was justified), but yeah the attention seeking and trying too hard to be funny thing definitely came through strongly. I guess that showed that side of him isn't solely reserved for interviews and on stage, as far as the impression he left on Aaron anyway.Like you say though there's still no way to guess particularly accurately about his personality even from that, not in any kind of conclusive way at least. He was on tour and with someone he knew would be writing about it, it's interesting to read but not exactly a way to get a reliable psychological profile. Without knowing them privately or being their psychologist who knows.fun fact: Aaron, John, and Jeff Ott met at summer camp when they were kids I love Aaron, but he can sound like a prick sometimes. I was listening to an interview with him yesterday, and from what I gathered, he doesn't like talking about Crimpshrine, and is ashamed of that music he wrote. He said the reason he's done so many other bands is to distance himself from being known for Crimpshrine, which sounds kinda ridiculous to me.
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Fun fact no 2: Jeff Ott wrote a "delightful" song about Aaron and Billie a few years ago that mentions Christie Road.
Todd Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Fun fact no 2: Jeff Ott wrote a "delightful" song about Aaron and Billie a few years ago that mentions Christie Road.fun fact no 3: rumor has it "At Your Funeral" is about Jeff Ott what's Jeff's song called?

BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 remember when everyone thought Tre was an asshole because he ate some of the local cuisine in Japan? good times.local cuisine aka chewing pieces out of an alive octopus then having his guards to stab it with forks. What a nice Japanese tradition
sara_gd Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 I think this thread's going a bit too far in terms of obsession. You win my Internet Poster of the Day Award for saying what I was thinking in a far nicer way than I would have put it.Pretty sure it's not possible to accurately analyse someone's personality type without even meeting them.I agree... Its beyond dumb for fans to guess what members of a band are like personality wise. Even if you have met them for a few minutes there is no way you know what they are actually really like as people. They are always projecting a particular image to the public anyway so they may be completely different in reality. I just wanted to point out that thinking about what personalities Green Day members may have has been going through my mind since I saw this website, which analizes the type of lots of famous people. It's done by psychologists, it's not the same as if we do it (we can just guess as I've said before), but it also uses only the public image of these people (their books, their quotes in interviews, etc). When I was thinking about it I googled "Billie Joe type" or something like that to see if they had them in any website like that one I posted. I only found a forum called personality cafe (click), with people guessing the type of many people in bands. They didn't know much about Green Day of course, because it wasn't a Green Day forum, so I said, why not try it here? So yeah, basically, I don't think it's that intrusive/obsessive/dumb. That many people do it is not an excuse for it not being dumb, but idk, I just think it isn't.

It's fine that you made the thread, and there's been some interesting discussion because of it, just my opinion on the subject of it. I don't think there's been any intrusiveness/obsessiveness either, I just don't think there's much chance of any of it being very accurate.
Todd Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Kiss The Rockstar That's just a creepy song! Jeez! Jeff's a strange guy.
MikeDirntConfused Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 It's not hard to see why Tre would hate some of his fans. I mean, take this thread as an example. The guy just plays drums for a band, and has people interpreting his personality on a website.

You have to face some stuff you can dislike when you're in the public eye. I understand your point, but Tre hating people because of this... is it really that big deal?
Chin for a Day Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I don't understand why some people are getting upset over this. I think it was created just for a bit of fun and not to seriously gain insight into their personalities. If you want to participate do, if you don't, don't. Plus, I seriously doubt that any of the band knows this thread exists and if they did, I doubt they would care.
MikeDirntConfused Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 i'll interpret your personality on a website if u want.ok
Billie Hoe Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 If you're right, then Billie Joe has the same personality type as me I knew we were connected. xDISFP ftw
Mykee Mexx Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I can't say what their personalities are like since I don't know them personally. I think they all put on an act on stage and in interviews too. Only their families know what they are truely like.I hope they themselves know what they are truly like... If I were a GD member I would laugh my ass off reading this thread, people trying hard to analyse me, just to feel a little bit closer...
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 This is great. haha this is totally random, but if i'm correct, intelligence is a part of personality so it belongs here and I really want to know!
sara_gd Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 haha this is totally random, but if i'm correct, intelligence is a part of personality so it belongs here and I really want to know! You mean IQ? It's not a part of /has to do with personality as far as I know.
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 You mean IQ? It's not a part of /has to do with personality as far as I know.I believe intelligence falls into personality psychology. Intelligence has more aspects than just IQ, emotional intelligence for instance has a lot to do with behaviour and determines what is the individual like.

So what is it exactly you'd like to know about Green Day members?
