Oh my God.

I hope this means more shows, please. I'm considering it but if they don't sell day tickets then no way.

I'm excited and sad at the same time

I'm in exactly the same position.

God, me too. I've never been to a festival and have no idea how to go about preparing.

I am for sure buying a ticket tomorrow. I convinced a buddy of mine to tag along and we shall have a grand time.

It's hard work but then so is trying to get to the barrier at an arena.

i'm kinda counting my blessings that i was pregnant at soundwave.

i honestly don't think i could have waited on that barrier all day. fuck that.

Ugh, I'm torn. It's a 4 and a half hour drive for me which isn't bad at all. I'd also really like to see Weezer and Bleachers and Flogging Molly is always fun...but I'm conflicted with that ticket price. I have no interest in seeing the other two headliners. Also, The Orwells were the WORST band I've ever seen live.

I feel the same way dude lolol

Even if day passes become available, I'm going to have to skip this one. I believe that they'll be coming out with a new album and doing a tour within the next couple of years and honestly I need to save my money.

Now that my nervousness about getting tickets/money for tickets is dealt with, I want to speculate about the setlist!!! I'm expecting it to be very down to business, probably opening with 99R because that's their thing now (:mad::mad: ) but maybe with a couple of deep cuts thrown in?? A girl can hope...

Stop it with bringing back memories

Man I had to hold my spot thru placebo & Alice in chains & I had this head banger who was pissed that gd was the headliner at his heavy metal festival throwing his fucking long hair all over me it was gross. But then so worth it seeing the guys every expression.

Ugh, now you have me second guessing myself! I really shouldn't spend the money, but I don't have any plans for this summer to begin with. This could be my mini-vacation. Grrr, do I be a responsible adult or an impulsive adolescent?

Ehhh if you have nothing else planned..... ;)

I'm already going to Lana del Rey, AC/DC, and One Direction this summer on top of the Green Day stuff I did in April, so I'm having trouble justifying this haha.

I've read the article on GDA, but none of the posts in this thrwad because I've just got home, so sorry if I'm repeating a point.

This caught me by surprise, I didn't expect them to be headlining a festival this summer. I thought to myself when i heard about this, that it is strange because bands usually only play headline shows at festivals when they are releasing music and promoting, and with Billie's recent comments it appears unlikely there'll be anything by August.

But either way, whether there's new music or not, this is great news!

Totally agree. Probably too close to the festival start date to expect any type of new music or promo to happen by August.

You guys. I think I've talked myself out of the $245 tickets. I think I may wait and see if any day passes emerge first. I hate myself for being responsible, but I'd just feel too fucking guilty shelling out that much money without at least waiting to see if there's a cheaper option.

I'm so fucking indecisive... :(

Ugh, I'm going back and forth too. If it makes you feel any better the tickets come out to about $82 a day! I'm going to do it. I'll put it on my credit card and pay it off over the next few weeks.

i've known i was definitely going since i got a text from ceadagh this morning while i was at work saying green day were playing in kentucky, don't worry  just have to figure out how i'm gonna pull it off!

i think that's a good plan. it's definitely something i would do as well anyway!

It's just so hard for me to justify it because Brandon and I together is $500 worth of tickets, and we just spent $1,000 total in Cleveland. This summer we have tickets to Bowling For Soup in June ($40 total) and we're also going to see New Found Glory and Yellowcard in November ($68 total), so it's not like we don't have shows planned. Both of those are at House of Blues too, so we really don't have to travel, either.

But the big thing is we're also planning a trip in July for a week that's probably going to cost about $500 total, which isn't too bad at all, but still... it's not like we don't have plans this summer. They're just not Green Day-related plans, so they're irrelevant.

Either way, I plan on going. I just think it'd be smarter to wait and see if day passes come up. If they do, great, we saved a ton of money. If not, we'll buy the slightly more pricey ones (tier two for $295) if the tier one tickets sell out quickly. I just don't really see that happening since this lineup is so fucking weird and it's a new thing. Basically my only fear is just by waiting that I won't get a ticket at all. But at the moment I need to save up a little bit more before I blow a bunch of money, and the payment plan tickets are available until the end of June.

You mean like a pre-festival show? FUCK, why would you even mention that? I hadn't thought about that?!?!

DON'T EVEN MENTION A SHOW OUTSIDE OF THE FESTIVAL god damnit  i just wasn't prepared for this!! i'm still not recovered from how much money i spent in cleveland, i still owe kay 86 dollars from it, i'm trying to buy a car and plan a wedding and now of course green day have to show up out of nowhere with 300 dollar tickets. damn them. i just know i'd hate myself forever if i didn't go :P

also gd announce a show so close to me just a month after billie joe professes his love for me HMMMMM

IS IT A COINCIDENCE? I DON'T THINK SOOO.

and this is what green day do.

they come out of the shadows when you're fucked with money. it's like they know.

Why the fuck did they choose the pic where Billie looks older than in any other pic of him known to man? Very cool news though!

It's a terrible photo, at least its in action though. None of the "recent" photoshoots are any good imo.

I really wish I lived in Kentucky right now.

No, you don't. You really don't.

So who has been to festivals before? How long do tickets normally last for? Do they sell out quick or is it the type of thing where you can wait a while and still get them?

No idea but my feeling is that since this is the first festival, the inaugural event I guess you could say, it might sell out faster than a later one. And from the tweets I've seen, there seems to be A LOT of interest from GD, KoL and Lambert fans. So it's really anyone's guess.

Personally, hubby and I have decided that IF there are single day tickets and if GD plays on Saturday night, we might actually go. Lots of ifs.

Depends on the festival.

I know I'm all kinds of helpful, but I've seen them go either way. Normally, Green Day headlining would make me think instant sellout, but Green Day's headlining a show in Kentucky. Like, the support band will be a banjo quintet--and they'll be called back for four encores. Virtually all Kentuckians have heard of Green Day, but 90% of them are actually referring to the celebration following the arrival of their welfare checks.

But you never know. Someone might see that the lead singer's name is "Billie Joe" and instantly assume that he's their second cousin on their mommy's side...and their daddy's. So, I mean, if someone thinks that they're going to get their welfare check from their rich cousin, it might sell out pretty fast.

One thing's for sure: with the amount of quality bourbon flowing around backstage, Billie Joe is sure to give the performance of a lifetime! :)

Just saw a commercial for Kentucky Fried Chicken which erased any doubts I had about going.

? Why? What does KFC have to do with this festival or for the state for that matter?

I don't know. The whole Kentucky aspect of it. Maybe I'll run into the Colonel!
