You wouldn't see that unless you went to the tour section on purpose. Idk you have you opinion and I have mine... I just don't like it that you are referring to us as "people who think bands owe fans explanations and are realising they don't", I just think it's the correct thing to do, not on a sentimental level if you know what I mean but on an official procedure.

Show isn't cancelled because of them it was out of their hands what they have to explain "uh promoters can't couldn't pay us cause they did shitty work"?

This. Even recognition as an instagram comment or something. Much better than pretending nifi didn't exist.

No it's not. You can't see it unless you look for it. That's not notification.

Did any of the member even promote Nifi in the first place?

I didn't see any from them

And again them taking it off the schedule was a notification of it just because they didn't write a story for fans who for some reason think bands owe them explanations on a show they have nothing to do with other than performing doesn't mean it's not a notification it's just one that you aren't satisfied with

Hmmm no...? "Unfortunately our appearance on NiFi festival scheduled for August 28th was cancelled due to problems regarding the festival organization. For futher information and ticket refund direct to nififest.com . We are very sorry about this. Green Day". That's what I'm expecting. Maybe "Rage and love" before the end, maybe "keep tuned", maybe some other stuff they don't owe us (I know), but at least an official message.

But they aren't required to do that really it's asking much when the members themselves wasn't even promoting it...

Well okay if you think that. I think they are required to do that. Them, their managment, whoever.

Yes I made it to bug them but I didn't want to use my real name so they don't hate me lol

Every band site I've visited so far didn't announce it on their news/principal page on their website. I'd bet NiFi told them not to post it on their front page so their fuck up didn't get to many people.

So basically, Green Day, like every other NiFi participant, is not anxious to post on their front page about how a huge festival they were going to be headlining was cancelled due to lack of ticket sales. Is it Green Day's fault that NiFi's organizers made a total NiFi of the thing and couldn't pay people to take tickets? No. Is there any pertinent information that Green Day could pass on to ticketholders that NiFi hasn't already? No. So what's the point of getting themselves mixed up in the PR fallout, especially now that NiFi has quietly pulled down the social media pages that served as an outlet for fans to rage?

I get what you're saying, and I get where you're coming from as a fan, but from the PR side of things, it wouldn't make sense for the band to attach their name to that third-trimester abortion of a festival any more than they already have. NiFi fucked up, NiFi cancelled the show, NiFi apologized, NiFi is handling the refunds. There's literally no upside or business reason for Green Day to comment on the festival's cancellation.

Green Day fans are seriously such entitled people. They don't owe us anything, ffs. Like Tim said, they've basically acted as if the festival doesn't exist from the beginning. It wasn't hyped and was barely promoted. Why does it matter if they say anything or not now? Sure, it might make you all feel better, but it doesn't change anything. The show isn't happening and realistically the band won't be doing anything noteworthy this year if it hasn't already been announced.

And for all we know, once it got canceled, not saying anything about it could've been part of the agreement to ensure the artists still got paid. Or, as Ben said, why attach your name to something that failed so miserably? Unlike Nifi, they understand basic concepts of marketing.

But guys, really, a band posting on their website when they play a show and when a show they were going to play gets cancelled is done because they owe fans something? I think not...

Not posting it because it attaches your name to something that failed is the only reason I see why they are not posting it, as I said before.

That's pretty much exactly why they wouldn't post it. Enjoy Chicago. :P

GD has no attachment to the festival could care less if it failed or succeeded as they don't own Nifi don't have any say in it

Them posting they were playing was a courtesy to fans that's it they didn't have to even post it to their site or acknowledge it in anyway whatsoever

Really? A "courtesy"? WTF? So how are fans going to know about them playing there then? That makes no sense to me.... I don't know if it makes sense from the "marketing point of view"......

Yeah.

Well, thank you xD

Cause the show wasn't their show they don't get perchantage of tickets sales they have no real reason to promote the show

Promoting for Nifi was NiFi's business not GD's business

I worked with several artists who didn't promote shows unless it was one they were doing on their own

Okay I get where you're coming from. I find it silly that a big band like Green Day does that for the simple fact that posting it on their website it's getting people (their own fans) to go see them and it's informative to both fans and general public, but I get it.

Will you all please stop with the "they don't owe you anything" posts. It's making me cry even more. I know it's not the band's fucking fault for fuck sake.................

Sorry I wasn't meaning to make you cry

Sorry, wasn't my intention. Green Day's fans seem to, by and large, have a certain sense of entitlement to them that fans of other bands I can think of don't. Maybe that's just because Green Day's demographics skew younger than other bands I'm a fan of, but it seems like there's a lot of griping out of this fandom in particular, and that sometimes gets really old.

i know you guys are upset and i'm super bummed too, this is my third green day show that's been cancelled or postponed and it sucks but they don't owe you anything, not even an explanation. it's not the band's fault y'all booked nonrefundable flights from halfway across the world for a festival that was always going to be a shitshow anyway :P

Amen. I always say it's a foolish decision, but I'm also always called a bitch for it. But I'm not the one losing hundreds of dollars in the end. I'd never book a flight to Europe for Green Day, so I can't even comprehend how someone could rationally do the comparable thing and come here, for reasons such as this. The band hasn't exactly been reliable in the past few years.

At least no one here opened a new credit card to pay for their tickets.

Sorry maybe that doesn't make sense in english.

I mean that everyone has different priorities and goals in their life, so it's normal that you can't understand some people's decisions.

I totally understood your post, it's fine :P

I know we've spoken about this before and have similar views on it, but personally, doing a massive crazy green day tour and following them across the world is really important to me and something I want to do in my life. I save a lot of my money so I can have those sort of travel experiences around green day.

To some people that is a crazy idea, but that is how I want to spend my time and money so I don't really care tbh. Green day adventures are something I prioritise and I totally get where you are coming from :)

You would've liked Aska.
