Sacredfire511 Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Yes. Stadiums. Stadiums that hold at least 50,000 people. 50,000 x $50 = $2.5 million. Trust me, Billie Joe can say all he wants to about it being all for the fans, and sometimes (like the HOB show) it really is, but show business is called show business for a reason. It's all about the money. Yes, but look at all the other bands out there that charge over 100$ for GA. That seems greedier to me. I'm just shocked that you would think of them as seeing it all about the money. That's not the band that I see. But hey, oh well lol.

At the end of the day, Green Day will go to just about anywhere that writes them a big enough check. How else do you explain them signing on to play a festival in Sparta, KY? That doesn't make them corporate assholes or anything, and by all accounts they do care at least as much for their fans as other bands do, probably more. Doesn't change the fact that in music, as it is in any profession, when it comes right down to it, it's all about the money. Rootbeersoup works for free. RBS works on a commissioned basis. He gets rep for quality posts. That's hardly working for free.
Sacredfire511 Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Again, you're quite naive. No one works for free, them included. I didn't mean they would play for free, just didn't think they would demand a ridiculous amount of money just to play somewhere
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I don't think Green Day would really be concerned with how much they get paid for a festival. GREEN Day...the name has multiple meanings If they didn't love making easy money they wouldn't have agreed to such a shitty festival to begin with Anyone notice Green Day deleted the gig from their "upcoming shows" and removed the most recent posts on facebook about it but have posted nothing about it being cancelled.
Guest Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I didn't mean they would play for free, just didn't think they would demand a ridiculous amount of money just to play somewhere Depending on the source, Green Day commands between $500k and $1M per show. NME pegs their going rate as of August 2014 at $730,000.
rootbeersoup Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I love when Green Day does things for the fans, like releasing three albums in one year for roughly $10 each

Artists who charge $100 have bigger stage shows than Green Day have may have more back up singers dancers more stage designers more stage crew etc The tickets prices are based off what the promoter has paid for the band the bands crew the venues permits etc Eminen charges a million a show (since Em doesn't tour and only does a handful of shows) so tickets will not be 20 dollars no venue could make a profit if tickets was sold at 20 dollars
Guest Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 this is all very well and good, but can we talk about the spelling error in the title of the thread? It's really starting to bother me. "Canceled" is the proper British spelling, which basically means that Hermione changed the title.
lizziebix Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 "Canceled" is the proper British spelling, which basically means that Hermione changed the title. Nope I did that last night and my phone autocotrected. I just went back and changed it to the double "l's."
Guest Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Nope I did that last night and my phone autocotrected. I just went back and changed it to the double "l's." Your phone needs to learn to speak 'Murrican.
klytaemnestra Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 "Canceled" is the proper British spelling, which basically means that Hermione changed the title. uh what? no it isn't. unless it is and my whole life is a lie?
Guest Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 uh what? no it isn't. unless it is and my whole life is a lie? Or maybe I have the whole thing reversed, and two L's is the British thing while one L is the American variant. Clearly, I need to learn to speak 'Murrican, as does Kay.

Guest Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 yeah you had it the wrong way round. that's the american education system for ye. 'Murrica has a edjumacation system?
lizziebix Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Oh so my autocorrect was correct in the first place. Huh.
klytaemnestra Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 'Murrica has a edjumacation system? that's what they tell me. i have yet to presented with cold, hard proof.
Guest Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 that's what they tell me. i have yet to presented with cold, hard proof. Seriously, there is so much more where that came from.
klytaemnestra Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Seriously, there is so much more where that came from. yeah that's kinda happening in the british system as well. it's a crying shame.
sara_gd Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I refuse to believe they're just going to take the show off the tour section and don't post a message or a note or something, even the members themselves on instagram or something..... They can't just pretend this never happened. They can't do that to all their fans who bought tickets. They even deleted the post on greenday.com that announced they were playing??? Who is working out all this shit?????? Edit: I've just seen they didn't delete the post, I must have misread some comment here.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 As a life-long 'murkan I have never seen cancelled intentionally spelled with only one "l".Canceled with one L is actually the preferred Associated Press spelling for news stories...
sara_gd Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 My friend who is/was/(I don't even know any more) going with Fran and I to this thinks that maybe they closed their social media so they don't have to keep paying staff to manage them.
Dirty Rotten Bastard Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I just really want a post on Green Days website or their instagrams or whatever about it so I can work out what the hell I'm going to do
