I fail to see the problem here? Aren't we "boobing" our way backstage anyway? Or at least to the front row?

See, this is the problem with America today. Double standards.

Ladies take their tops off and crowdsurf to the front row of a festival; I take my shirt off and everyone puts their sunglasses on.

7 rock bands playing this festival, 3 of them play the one day a rock band doesn't headline.

This festival is really going all out to be as shit as possible.

Yeah, I'm sort of OK with the fact that I have the three day passes because Saturday should be fun as well. Seriously, though, this festival is a dumpster fire.

Friday is a miserable lineup minus Flogging Molly. That's going to be hell waiting for Green Day to play.

lmao I don't usually wish ill on stuff like this but I hope they get so desperate that they just forgo the passes thing and sell tickets to individual artists' shows in order to not have the place completely empty

Not going to happen. The logistics of kicking everyone out after every individual band's set (or even just kicking everyone out and filing them back in before the headliner) would kill whatever miniscule hope this festival has of returning next year.

i had a dream last night that i got there and realized i'd forgotten to buy a ticket

It's ok. Just tell them you'll post a positive tweet about the festival, and they'll let you in. You'll probably get more favorites and retweets than they would.

It's a bit of brilliance on their part, actually. By scattering the acts in each genre across multiple days instead of having rock day, punk day and country day, they're strongly encouraging people to buy three-day passes instead of just buying them for one day. First thing they've done right, even though it appears to be yet another dumb move on their part.

I'm just mad because I wanted to see Weezer :(

it would've been really cool to see them :( i've seen them twice now, and it's a lot of fun!

I will literally marry anyone who punches Billie Joe in the face for me. They are playing the one day I can't go.

And we have a new band director this year (booooo) so I don't know if I'd be able to get out of the football game...plus I don't even know what the football schedule is...I'll check it later and pray that I got lucky and that's our off-week.

I hate this stupid band, honestly.

You're in high school. Say you're sick, then forge a note. FFS Eva, you're thinking too hard about this.

If I miss a game, I get a 0 in the performance category, which brings my entire grade down a letter, and I am not having my only B in high school be in band my senior year because I went to go see Green Day.

Performances are only excused if a family member dies or if you have a verified note from a doctor saying that you are physically incapable of marching, and the director actually calls to make sure it's not bullshit. So yeah, no, I'm not getting a B in band for this. :P

Same with me, I was considering going if they were playing Saturday or Sunday but I can't do Friday as it's the last day of my work contract. :(

I hope everyone has a great time though!! :D

you can't just get ~sick? ;)

I could but I would feel really guilty doing it since it's my last day, and considering they just gave me a raise... I'll think about it though. ;)

Duuuuddde, get a B in band. A Green Day concert is worth it. No one will look at your B in band 10 years from now (or 1 year or 5 years) and say "Oops, no, forget her! She got a B in band!"

Edited to add - this is coming from a fellow band geek and overachiever.

This is so unbelievably uncharacteristic of me, but I'm literally not worrying about a single thing related to this show! I'm so proud of myself. :D

We already know where we're staying. I've already got an outfit to wear. I know how to get there. I have enough money to pay for it all and I don't feel guilty about spending the money because it's so fucking cheap! Also, like nobody will be there so we're basically guaranteed a good spot if we just put in a tiny bit of effort!

And the best part is I already know it's not going to be as good as the House of Blues show, so I'm not even nervous to see the band! I have no expectations for this show... I'm just going to have a good time and then get shitfaced the rest of the weekend! #cans

I assure you, everyone would shield their eyes if I took my top off as well. As you know, my skin and sunlight don't get along.

This can be arranged. How badly do you want to go, and which great aunt/uncle do you like the least?

Alissa, it doesn't work that way for women. You know that.

They likely wouldn't be able to see anything — just a really, really blinding reflection of sunlight.

I entered the contest, if I win even hubby won't pass up free tickets. Of course my chances of winning are 10 trillion to 1, so very unlikely. Why do people always talk about punching Billie in the face, punch any other body part you want, just leave the damn face already!

sorry friends, I'm not ruining my perfect GPA for a concert I probably can't even afford

I have never actually been to a festival concert thing - what do I do? I'm going to do the one day pass just for Green Day, and I'm going to stay in a hotel. Do I get there early and stand in front of the stage they will be on and wait to get trampled by crowds? At the House of Blues, I wasn't on the floor, I was behind a railing to the side. I still got smushed, but not as violently. I just really don't like being in crowds and people touching me and bumping into me. And sweat. My own and the sweat of others. So can someone tell me how this works? And I'll be going by myself. Will I just look creepy standing there all day waiting for them to go on, rocking back and forth because people make me nervous? Help.

Same. I expect to hear nothing special, but just can't wait to see them again. They'll be great as always and I'm looking forward to a fun weekend.

So, how far do you think they'll get through American Idiot before someone shoots at the stage? My money's on halfway through the second line.

In all likelihood, they don't have enough self-awareness to realize they're the butt of the joke. Seems to be the republican way.

From what I've seen of the line-up, country rednecks aren't going to want to go and they probably don't have $200 to spend to just go fight the bands. :P

Also, it's not in southeastern Kentucky (I think), which is the worst part, lmao

read this whole damn thread and the only thing I got out of it was that there are worse parts of Kentucky

this is probably why flashing the toll booth people never works for me, too white :/

southeastern/eastern Kentucky is where most of the coal miners lived, historically, so they're much poorer areas and dirtier and run-down and sometimes it's cool and then other times you feel like you're going to be murdered so I mean

it's like the difference between being in rural Tennessee vs. rural Appalachian Tennessee tbqh. people who aren't from the south think they're both shit holes but people from the south can see a very clear difference.
