Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 I guess you don't get sarcasm I invented sarcasm.99.99% of everything posted by me on this forum is sarcastic. Even my username is sarcastic The smiley I posted would suggest my post was sarcastic. Also I used Blink 182 as a reference...THAT is definitely sarcastic
laurie_black Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 youtube.com/watch?v=yK1bjPQ0gKc I thought it was really cute how Billie had to know if his wife had shown up yet before he could start
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Why are people so obsessed with GD adding more stuff from the Lookouts era? I'd like to see The Grouch, Babs Uvula Who?, Maria, Armatage Shanks, and Prosthetic Head added to the setlist, thank you very much. The only song from that era that I'd be okay with them making a permanent fixture on the setlist is Going to Pasalacqua. Anything form Insomniac and Nimrod, tbh.

There are some good songs in the Lookout era, but their lyrics and music overall has improved so much since then. I personally would love to see Church on Sunday, Misery, Waiting, Panic Song and Scattered added to the setlist.
desertrose Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Love all the material, but yes some earlier stuff is great to hear. Insomniac material is not heard enough.

captain peroxide Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Dookie - American Idiot is their best run of albums, so it's always been kinda criminal that they mostly play the bookends. I mean, I get it. You play the shit that made you famous, the shit that made you famous again, the new shit, and fill in the gaps with sometimes-inspired, sometimes-not choices, but ugh. At least half of Insomniac should be in regular rotation.
jeebusofdaburbz Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Idiotic Tendency? Is that you? Do you guys have a problem with this sort of thing around here? Lol

Insomniac186 Posted May 21, 2015 Author Posted May 21, 2015 The Lookout era stuff has more sentimental value, I believe. Given the fact the Billie was going through a lot during the Insomniac era (dealing with fame, doing speed, exhaustion, being away from his young family) he may not feel very nostalgic about that time of his life. That's the way I see it. I could be wrong of course. However, I don't understand why the Nimrod era is being largely ignored though. It was nice to hear Billie sing the chorus of Redundant at the Gilman show.

It was nice to hear Billie sing the chorus of Redundant at the Gilman show. I think the same way. But maybe he also don't want to remember the time when he wrote Uptight and when he started to drink heavily, I think the Nimrod era wasn't that easy too. But that are all speculations, I'd love to hear more from Insomniac.

But that are all speculations, I'd love to hear more from Insomniac. That makes sense. Didn't they play Scattered in the recent past? That song was written a few years before the Nimrod era if I remember correctly, same with Haushinka so there are still a few album tracks they could play that wouldn't remind Billie of that time. By the way, has anyone found any audio recordings of the entire performance?

If Billie picked the setlist based on what album he wasn't drinking/doing drugs when he was recording it we would have Look For Love Seriously though it most likely comes down to their two most popular albums plus his favourites to play live right now from the other albums or maybe requests from his friends etc. I really doubt there is some deep psychological meaning to any of it
Panda Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 If Billie picked the setlist based on what album he wasn't drinking/doing drugs when he was recording it we would have Look For Love I know But I can imagine that it doesn't feel fine to play a song live which isn't one of your favourites anyway about something you'd rather forget when you could play other songs (uh, I can't explain...). I think they rather play songs they like more and from which they think the fans want to hear. Idk, but ok, I think you're right...

Hermione Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Just been watching some videos from this. Totally fantastic! So great to see them playing there again.
**nobodylikesyou** Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 You know why I am sad that I missed this show? Because they finally did not play King for a Day. That woulda been awesome to see a show without that in it.
