AlissaGoesRAWR Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Chris Jerico was there too My husband and Kay got a picture with him.
The Platypus! Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Reading this interview did make me smile, it's nice to see something where Billie seems excited about the music. It seems like forever since I read something about Billie.
Ross_19 Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 My husband and Kay got a picture with him. Oh awesome, lucky you! *googles* Wrestler? Yaaaaa
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 *breaking news* Billie talks about hof two weeks after anyone gave a fuck. The special announcement is expected to be made next month.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Oh awesome, lucky you! Apparently he's cool/important? Here's the photo:
JardyOfSuburbia Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 And as far as I'm concerned, "I can't say" is more of a good sign than a bad sign in terms of possible news as early as next year. If it was farfetched, I think he would've just came right out and said no. But for him to essentially give a "no comment" normally means the interviewer is on the right track. I'm optimistic (which is saying something for me!). I think, from what I can gather from this interview, the band is really reflecting on the failures of the trilogy and they're trying to do whatever they can to prevent its downfall from happening again. If waiting another year or two results in great music, a successful tour and a possible rise to mainstream popularity once again, I'm more than willing to wait. The band has already done more for me this month than I ever dreamed possible. That was my reaction to that as well. I wish we knew how Billie said it (what his facial expressions were like, tone of his voice, etc) but I really do think we will get something by the end of this year/early next year. I thought it was good to hear, "I can't say" instead of "no comment".

You thinking an announcement by the end of this year/early next year, or actual material?
JardyOfSuburbia Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Ah, "no comment." The bane of every reporter's existence. You thinking an announcement by the end of this year/early next year, or actual material? I go back-and-forth on this. I'll say we get a serious update on what the new album is. Maybe a release date or some kind of album news this fall. New record in 2016 seems like a safe bet.
Ross_19 Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I think three first quarter of 2016 is a good bet. Maybe, hopefully, an announcement or a single by the end of this year, well that's what i think/hope! Four or five songs is (presuming they do 1 album of around 12-15 songs) a third of the album, and considering he's demoed them they must be almost finished, leaving the other two thirds of the record. Billie didn't mention it but surely he's either started/finished the lyrics and instrumentals for a few other songs. Exciting times

That doesn't mean there aren't any others that are close to ready. Everything was very ambiguous. They could be closer than we think. They have been leaving enough ambiguous hints to assume something is going to happen.

It'd take a brave person to predict anything haha, from album sound/theme to release date/announcement/single date my hope though is for at least an announcement this year

That Dude Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Green Day (as well as most musicians) write/demo/record a whole lot more than is ever released. So the new album's release really depends on how many songs they have done so far. If they have only done five in total, we are still a looooong way off from GREEN DAY 12. They might start off with 40-60 songs and slowly whittle them down (or combine/rewrite songs) to a solid, cohesive 12 to 19 songs. Green Day albums have an average of 14 songs on them......anyway. Very excited for this album.
Ritz Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 This was such a great interview. His excitement about playing with John after such a long time is so evident. Doesn't even make me feel as if there was some bad blood between these two!
UNICORN VOMIT Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Ha I'm hoping for a tour with at least 10 dates in the ny area. My area (fixed that for ya)

Very excited for this album. Basically this. Green Day don't really going into studio unless Billie Joe has at least 40ish songs written and demoed. 5 songs is fucking nothing. That's 1/12th of what he had for 21stCB, and 1/8th of the final product of the Trilogy. Plus, Cavallo said he heard 5 demos. Anyone and their granny knows the definition of a demo varies between the Demolicious version of Missing You and the Demolicious version of Stay The Night. I know you're all excited for new Green Day stuff, but you guys have to be realistic. Green Day simply don't go into recording with half a dozen songs, and Billie Joe put emphasis on how they're going to take their time on this one. They won't have new material out til the end of 2016, at the earliest.
Hermione Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I enjoyed reading this . Love how passionate he is about what he does. Basically this. However history has shown they do like to record/release secret side project stuff on the spur of the moment. So there's always hope for that while we wait!
Chin for a Day Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 My area (fixed that for ya) But it still said NY area. Which is correct. Again, Rob has said he heard 5 songs, that does not mean there are not others ready. ambiguous as always.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Yeah, "I've heard five songs" and "we've picked five songs for the album" are two completely different things. For some reason, all the media outlets seem to be acting as if Rob and Billie Joe said the latter, which is hardly the case. I'm excited, but I'm also realistic. They won't have new material out til the end of 2016, at the earliest. This is exactly what I'm thinking, too. Announcements are possible before then, but I don't think we'll actually hear anything until fall 2016.

What they didn't mention is that all five songs are exactly 16 minutes long, so the album is done.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 What they didn't mention is that all five songs are exactly 16 minutes long, so the album is done. Based on the pile of shit that is Dirty Rotten Bastards, I would be very, very scared to hear that album. I realize you're joking, but in my opinion, they'll never be able to replicate the perfection that is Jesus of Suburbia/Homecoming... you can't try to make a song like those.
