Hermione Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I don't even have to try anymore. If it was only you saying it I wouldn't have bothered replying , just when I see people seriously entertaining the idea that I can't help it.
Mykee Mexx Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 He has actually said that he didn't know what to do on stage at first. Then he started drinking before shows and lost his inhibitions. So, the chances are good he was piss drunk most of the time. I know he said that. Especially during the first years, and, yes, you could actually tell he was on drugs/alcohol, because he behaved really weird with rolling eyes and moving his head like a hen. But was he better than later on? I don´t think so. And there´s a difference between being "piss drunk" and having a glass ot two of whatever to be more relaxed and feeling secure (even though this is just a matter of the mind) before going on stage. "Drinking" doesn´t only mean to be or get drunk. It can also mean to get in a state of ease. No problem. But I can´t tell by watching shows through the years whether he was drunk or not. To me he mostly was - except IHeart - fine and doing a good job. I definitely don´t find him "piss drunk". And besides - it´s not my business... edit: just saw all this has been said already...
Chin for a Day Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I think that they need to improve how they do the shows. I don't mind clothes, piro or flashy lights, but setlist are pretty boring and much the same the last tour. If they randomize songs, shows would become a lot more interesting. No fixed sections. But seems that they don't know how to do that :c Honestly, for a big show, it is not that easy to randomize a set list. They have effects and visuals that are all timed to the music. There is alot of coordination that needs to occur to change things around. It is easier, and I know they have done this, from show to show, but to randomly change things in the middle of one is not that easy, for any band.
tommygoodtimee Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 looks do matter. A lot. I don't want to see fat, out of shape Billie performing in a sweatshirt. Being a huge band is as much about image as it is about the music. When I go to see Green Day, I want to hear great music but I also want them to look the part. well i personally believe looks shouldn't matter. After all they are a band and not models right? Billie always performed fine in my opinion even when he was a bit overweight.

That is the main idea of my last post. During 21st CB tour they randomize a bit, not as other bands, but they tried and was pretty good. It is not needed anymore that kind of show they have done from the last 15 years. They can go and make things fresh again. They have enough songs to surprise everybody
LostHighway Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 It's fine for you to have that belief, but the fact that exists in the real world that we live in is that looks matter. It's good to see another person who looks at the reality of things, not delusional fantasies. Ok is a mod going to do something about this personal attack?!
Hermione Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 It's good to see another person who looks at the reality of things, not delusional fantasies. Seriously, I said to stop trying to get at each other. I guess you might not be fully aware of how things work here since you're new (I recommend having a read of the forum guidelines to help with that) but that means stop or you'll be given a warning point and suspended for 24 hours. So everyone drop this now, and let's only have on topic posts that don't contain digs at each other from this point please.

I am not a fan of stupidity and when I see comments containing it in spades I sometimes cannot help myself. I will try harder in the future
Hero_Of_The_Hour Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Sorry Hermione, I was simply defending myself. I am not a fan of stupidity and when I see comments containing it in spades I sometimes cannot help myself. I will try harder in the future You were not defending yourself you were enjoying yourself and by yourself. I stopped engaging with you when Liam asked us to but actually it was because I refuse to corresond with anybody who attacks somebody based on their sexuality. I have nothing further to say to you. Keep being childish. Amuse yourself. Get banned. I know I could care less about your existance. Good day. Hermione sorry this needed to be said. I'm so done now.
Lindsay Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 You guys have been asked to stop so quit it, or take it to PM. Last verbal for both of you or I'll be handing out suspensions.

Hermione Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Oh my god, just drop it. Anyone who makes another post that isn't on the subject of how Green Day might revamp their careers is going to be suspended.
The Disappearing Boy Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Since when were Green Day a boyband?Pedantic: since all of their members were men I used to annoy my brother by saying that the Beatles and the Rolling Stones were boybands Maybe Green Day should team up with One Direction now? Or maybe with Blink 182 as well to form a supergroup? One Green Blink.
That Dude Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Not to rehash an old idea but....sort of. American Idiot started with Mike alone in the studio and then everyone writing these little snippets of songs which all came together as Homecoming. So they could do this again, and see what comes up. It could sound nothing like American Idiot, just born out of the same structure. They all piece together their separate ideas and viola, Album 12! Also, like I and many others have said, their setlists need a major over-hall. Still bring the big hits and fan favorites, but switch them out instead of playing St. Jimmy at every darn show, play "Platypus (I hate you)". Instead of "Brainstew/Jaded" play "Dirty Rotten Bastards" or "X-Kid".
Haushinka! Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 ^ Except I need to experience Jaded played live before I die, so I wouldn't mind if they kept it in their set list.

That Dude Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I really hope Mike has written something. Something from Jason would be cool as well. The next album could be extremely dark, dealing with Billie's struggle with alcohol and pills, Britney and Jason's cancer...I imagine they all have some emotional songs building up inside them. Tre could throw in a joke song to lighten the mood, or he could go all dark and serious as well. But let's be realistic. We'll probably get what we usually get: All lyrics by Billie Joe, all music by Green Day. I know that's how they roll, but I think every album should have at least one Mike / Tre / Jason track. Could be a hidden track like "All By Myself" or....okay, that is their only hidden song. So that's something else. More hidden songs! From now on, every Green Day album should have a secret track, and either it or another song should be sang/written by someone other than Billie. It would be so awesome if Green Day had a hit song with someone else singing. Nearly every band I listen to has more than one lead singer. It's a feature of any good band!

Most bands have one lead singer, occasionally another member will write and sing a song. I honestly can't think of too bands that have more than 1 lead singer. But I will let them throw Mike one, just for you. I can see them having some emotional songs, but overall I can see a more upbeat vibe because of everything they have gone through. Kind of like a if you don't laugh you will cry kind of thing.

Some band with 2 or more leads: Blink-182, Transplants, Rancid, Alkaline Trio, Goo Goo Dolls, Barenaked Ladies, Pinhead Gunpowder, Linkin Park, the Network, System of a Down and The Who all have more than one lead singer. I originally named off every band that ever had anyone but the lead singer sing, but then I read your post more carefully. Thanks for letting Mike have a song. and as for the emotional vibe, I remember Billie Joe talking about Wake Me Up When September Ends. He said just like most of Green Day's songs, it's sad but hopeful at the same time. I think that's part of what makes Green Day so great. Their songs are about the most terrible heartbreaking things, but with that hope that you will come out of it okay, or even that it's okay to not be okay. So I definitely agree with you in that in will be upbeat in that sense.
Guest Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 The Clash are probably the best band for having multiple singers. Joe Strummer, Paul Jones, and Paul Simonon (albeit for only one song, it is one of their best songs) all sang lead on various songs. Strummer wrote most of the lyrics, but Jones wrote two of their biggest hits (Should I Stay Or Should I Go and Train In Vain). And the drummer, Topper Headon, wrote and recorded a lot of the music.

That does not make him the lead singer. Roger had one of the best voices in rock, he was most definitely the lead singer. The Goo Goo Dolls have primarily one vocalist. Tim Armstrong is the primary vocalist for Rancid, etc. I didn't mean to say that most bands only have one member sing, but most bands, not all, have primarily one singer. That does not mean that other members don't occasionally sing, but there is generally one lead singer in a band. Again, I'm not saying all bands are like that, just most. Don't mess with Roger, my second favorite. He is most definitely the lead singer.
