Haushinka! Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I would love if they played Waiting, one of my favourite songs Same here! That song makes me so happy and if they perform it, I'll ball my eyes out.
Hermione Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 They haven't really been "waiting" to get inducted though, this was the first year they were eligible
Chin for a Day Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 They haven't really been "waiting" to get inducted though, this was the first year they were eligible They haven't been waiting to be inducted. But, this is a huge honor and you can say they have been waiting all their careers for such a special moment. To be acknowledged as one of the best ever.

But Waiting isn't a particular favourite of mine so I'm not bothered if they play it
Chin for a Day Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 That would work. But Waiting isn't a particular favourite of mine so I'm not bothered if they play it I only want the opening lines, then they go into a medley of a whole bunch of songs that they would like to play but don't fit as a whole song. That is a way to cover alot of songs. They have a unique problem. Most of the people that are inducted have a few signature songs and picking a set list isn't really that hard. EVeryone knows that Joan Jett will do I Love Rock and Roll, Ringo will do With a Little Help from My Friends, etc. But for GD, they have so much to choose from, how do you pick just 3 or 4?

Ringo has more choices to pick than GD as Beatles has 2-3x the hits GD has it's not like he's limited to With A Little Help

WhiteTim Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Great we can throw in octopuses garden. Yippee. Ringo Has nothing. Ringo wrote the drum parts to all the songs Beatles did from when he joined til end so he can play those songs as he does at his shows he is apart of those songs by your logic Tre Cool has nothing as well if GD broke up

Even with writing credits, it does not mean they are capable of performing the song.

Even with writing credits, it does not mean they are capable of performing the song. Writing credits is decided in the band tho John and Paul were pretty hard on writing credits they didn't credit anyone for contributions they credited those who brought the song (George would contribute to alot of later songs but somehow it was credited to John and Paul) where as GD it's more even and relaxed like on Cautro Missing You is pretty much just Billie as it shows him demoing it alone and then showing Mike the drum part which sounded pretty much like the finished version but the credit still shows music by Green Day By Paul and even John's admission they never wrote drums in any of the Beatles songs Altho Ringo did mainly follow the melody of what was brought on board Don't stick to close by credits as they can say anything the band wants to say Personally I think every one who contributes even if it's one note should get credits on it some don't feel that way Lennon McCartney and Kurt Cobain was that way Kurt didn't write any of the bass or drums but for 95% of the songs only Kurt is listed as the writer only 3 songs are credited to Cobain/Novoselic/Grohl even tho Kurt never wrote a single drum track or bass note on any of his songs

Just as if you did not contribute, you should not have credit. Some artists work the way Lennon and McCartney worked where they always share writing credit, no matter what and others work the way Billie does where he will always say Green Day. But, my point was just because Ringo (and Tre as well) contributed to a song, does not mean they are capable of performing that song. There are songs that Ringo can perform successfully, but I don't think he has the ability to perform the entire Beatles catalog. Just as I would not want to see Tre perform Jesus of Suburbia, I would not want to watch Ringo try and tackle A Day in the Life.

True I personally wouldn't to hear Ringo sing any of the Beatles (or hell even his own) songs as I don't like his singing but he has the right to do so as he did play a part of the Beatles as much as people like to rag on him he did contribute so he could pick from their catalog hopefully Ringo will stick to playing drums and letting Paul do the singing
