WhiteTim Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 So... I may or may not have looked into the 'induction ceremony' all that much before replying like a blonde Ok, scratch that, but I still think Larry Livermore should be involved. Lol it's cool I just wanted to make folks laugh
Chin for a Day Posted March 6, 2015 Author Posted March 6, 2015 So the headliner of the inductees Ringo Starr should not focus on his induction and Paul should not focus on inducting his friend/bandmate to inducted a small time act? (I'm just joking on the small time act) It has not been officially announced that Ringo is the headliner.
WhiteTim Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 It has not been officially announced that Ringo is the headliner. We all know it is as Ringo is apart of the biggest band to exist...
Chin for a Day Posted March 6, 2015 Author Posted March 6, 2015 We all know it is as Ringo is apart of the biggest band to exist... Well, we don't know that. Ringo may have been part of a very influential band, but he is receiving the participation award for a mediocre solo career. Would you even be thinking this if Paul was not inducting him? The night should be about the artists elected as performers, not an honorary award. It would be like making the Cecil B DeMille award recipient the most important award at the Oscars. Since it looks like Bill Withers (sorry) will not be performing, the headliner should be Green Day or Joan Jett. Most music bloggers feel that the headliner will, or at least should, be Green Day. I am crossing my fingers, but not holding my breath on that one

WhiteTim Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Excuse me, this is why Ringo is being inducted: BULLSHIT George Carlin is and will always be Mr Conductor
Mayonaise Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 I think Rivers Cuomo is a reasonable thought. Weezer covered two Green Day songs, referenced Green Day in "El Scorcho", they both came onto the mainstream at the same time, and they both contributed to the Angus film's soundtrack. Rivers Cuomo, as we can infer, clearly likes Green Day.
Chin for a Day Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 BULLSHIT George Carlin is and will always be Mr Conductor Agreed, so why is Ringo being inducted?
BCap Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Agreed, so why is Ringo being inducted? He's being inducted because he was in a band called The Beatles, and his other three bandmates were inducted outside of their work in that band. Also, everyone loves Ringo. BULLSHIT George Carlin is and will always be Mr Conductor I grew up with both Carlin and Ringo, and I loved both men's work. At least they aren't Alec Baldwin (who actually narrated some of the Thomas episodes outside of Shining Time around the release of the movie).
Chin for a Day Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 He's being inducted because he was in a band called The Beatles, and his other three bandmates were inducted outside of their work in that band. Also, everyone loves Ringo. No everyone doesn't love Ringo. I don't. And, just because his other band mates were inducted on their solo careers doesn't mean he should be. Personally, only 2 should have been inducted on their solo careers and they are both dead. You have perfectly described the participation award, which is what he is being given. I will just be happy if he is not the headliner, because he should not be. But, I'm not holding my breath.

Mar Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 BULLSHIT George Carlin is and will always be Mr Conductor I don't disagree with that, but still, lbr, that's what the Hall of Fame looked at when they looked at Ringo I'm expecting him to be a headliner, too, as long as Paul is there.
Chin for a Day Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 But he will be the headliner I'm willing to bet money I agree with you, I just don't think he should be. I will bet money that the majority of that audience is there to see Green Day. I would have less of an issue if Joan Jett was the headliner. I don't believe she deserves it over GD, but at least she is being inducted as a performer. The evening should be about the artists being inducted as performers, not someone being given an honorary award. Alot of the music bloggers think it will, or should be GD as well. So, I'm still not giving up hope. I'm expecting him to be a headliner, too, as long as Paul is there. That is the problem I have, if Paul wasn't going to be there, we would not be having this discussion. But, no one has said that Paul is performing or Ringo for that matter. I have a friend, who is friends with the saxophonist for Billy Joel's band, and he also is in Ringo's band as well. I asked my friend if they were performing and as of a few weeks ago, they didn't know. Plus, everyone can slap me down, Paul is overrated. Since we are talking George Carlin, he had the best line: "The wrong two Beatles died first."

Since we are talking George Carlin, he had the best line: "The wrong two Beatles died first." Miles Kurosky (formerly of Beulah) wrote in an article about the whole John/Paul debate (there's a song called "I Love John, She Loves Paul"), and he mentioned that he and his wife put together an album consisting entirely of John's material, and an album consisting entirely of Paul's. Kurosky (who stated that he prefers John) said that Paul's stuff actually held up better (saying that it was more diverse than John's). And George Harrison sang my all-time favorite Beatles song: "I'm Happy Just to Dance with You," so I love him for that (as well as "Got My Mind Set on You," which is easily one of the best post-Beatles tracks out there [or at least one of my favorites]). Also, let's not forget that George was essential in getting Life of Brian made (and I know everyone on here knows what that is - even if you don't like Monty Python, we ARE on a fucking Green Day forum).

George is by far my favorite beatles. He was just as talented as John but john was a type a personality and George a type b. I don't care what study was done, I don't like Paul's stuff. That is my personal opinion And please don't test my intelligence, this is not the twit of the year contest.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Mark Hoppus comes to mind for me... I really don't feel like it's realistic, but if for some reason the stars align, I will be an extremely happy fangirl that day. <3

Chin for a Day Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 I tweeted the Rock Hall to see if they announced who was the headliner. This is the answer I got: "WE have never pre-announced that, but sometimes it is easy to surmise." I'm not kidding.

Chin for a Day Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 So that means it's who? Your guess is as good as mine. I specifically asked them if it would be GD or Ringo but they have not responded.
BCap Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Your guess is as good as mine. I specifically asked them if it would be GD or Ringo but they have not responded. Plot twist! Maybe they'll do a song together! It could happen - lots of bands cover The Beatles (including Green Day). Has anyone heard Rancid's cover of "Ob La Di, Ob La Da"? It's actually pretty good (considering how annoying the song can be).

WhiteTim Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 No, where did they cover that? Was wondering the same YouTube has nothing Green Day should cover Octopus's Garden for the HOF for Ringo
