Akshat Jain Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 let's see, for me, Swimmers ( Emily's Army) Blink 182 The Replacements Bruce Springsteen 5 SOS The Script
sara_gd Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I literally just posted that five minutes before you Blink 182 is totally possible, most of us are just wishing it IS someone older because it's more respectable... Does anyone know when they typically announce the people who will be inducting the bands? Like, when did we find out about GD inducting GnR last year? I guess it could happen at any time, if we already know that Paul will induct Ringo (!), but if they have a harder time finding a good obvious fit for Green Day we might be wondering till March... Wow... I swear I didn't see that! I see... I hope for an older band too haha. But Blink 182 or someone like that wouldn't be that bad, not 5 SOS please....
Jhei Morisato Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 5SOS i won't allow these bastards to induct Green Day.
UNICORN VOMIT Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 i won't allow this bastards to induct Green Day.[/quote They would be excited though - they are massive GD fans
Chin for a Day Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 let's see, for me, Swimmers ( Emily's Army) This would be just downright wrong. Promoting your own kid at the induction ceremony is a big no.
the devil in my heart Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 The Network! haha I think a younger band like good charlotte... or emilys army
Invention Convention Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 for the love of music not blink 182.
Yojimbo Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Yeah, not gonna be happy if it is Blink-182, Good Charlotte, FOB or MCR.
PanicAttack! Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Dave Grohl? It's just a wishful guess, but I can't see any obvious reason why it couldn't be him. If you do, please share.
Asa. Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 No one has mentioned Pete Wentz. I feel like he would be an obvious option.
Hermione Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 And older person not a younger person please
KGLWW Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I like the idea of someone around the same age as green day like rivers cuomo. He's not as iconic/famous or as old as bob mould, paul westerberg, bono, or even the guys from nirvana but at the same time not as young or unworthy as someone from like fall out boy or something like that. I like the Edge as a speaker tho if rivers didn't work out because i like his personality and opinions. He would be a lot better than bono or most anyone else imo.
BCap Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Yeah, not gonna be happy if it is Blink-182, Good Charlotte, FOB or MCR. As much as I mildly like Good Charlotte, I REALLY don't want them doing it. I would say that it should definitely be bands from the Cali punk scene who sprang up with them - Rancid, NOFX, The Offspring, Pansy Division, blink-182 (who might actually count, since they formed in 1992), Weezer, etc. (I would say Bad Religion, but they've been around since '79, so might not really count). Actually, now that I think about it, Pansy Division probably makes the most sense.

Tbqh, what I said was more of an overreaction than anything else, I'm pretty sure it won't be that bad if someone influenced by GD inducts them. But i would prefer if it was someone who actually influenced GD in the first place. Someone like Roger Daltrey or Paul Westerburg. Actually, Bad Religion ain't a bad shout either.
Alan86 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 All The popular bands that Green Day inspired are complete Bollox (ie MCR ATL 5SOS FOB) so I hope it's someone else.
Invention Convention Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Don Everly would be cool, but idk if it would work for Green Day. It would 100 percent if it was an award for Billie Joe and Norah but the Everlys had nothing to do with Green Day, just Billie Joe, so that could be deemed 1) irrelevant or 2) unfair on the other guys as it's kind of naming Green Day as Billie Joe?
Estranged Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 They deserve someone better than 5sos, FOB and blink.. Tommy Stinson should do it.
Guest Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 They deserve someone better than The Replacements tbh.
Heather. Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 This would be just downright wrong. Promoting your own kid at the induction ceremony is a big no. Promoting your kid's band is definitely wrong, but it's always nice when the kids go up on stage to talk about their parents... like when Norah Jones did it to talk about her dad at the grammys, or whatever. But I don't expect this to happen at all for the Hall of Fame

But I don't expect this to happen at all for the Hall of Fame I agree that it is nice if the kids talk about their parents, but having Swimmers induct them would be nothing more than nepotism. Swimmers has no business being at the induction ceremony other than to support GD. Plus, I don't think it would be in the best interest of GD to have Swimmers induct them. I am so sick of hearing people say they don't deserve it. One way to reduce that is to have someone highly respected in the business induct them.

It would be laughable to even suggest Swimmers.
Invention Convention Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Random, but Robert Smith would be awesome.
