How cliché is a heart grenade tattoo?

.

Very cliche. Why don't you look inside the cd booklets and find something else :P

So am I. AAF was the first Green Day album I was a part of from start to finish as my initiation into Green Day fandom began when 21CB came out. Plus I think the black/grey/pink color scheme is awesome.

Isn't it? It's a great design that isn't immediately obviously Green Day related. Fuck it, I'm getting it.

So apparently GD hasn't shown up at the Press Room yet?! Only FOB.

I'm exactly like you, and I don't think it's cliché. Fan since Warning, HUGE fan since AI. I'd have a real time choosing one, because of all the different influences and eras. Like, I love them live, I think they're probably the best live band in the world, so I'm considering the AAF drunk bunny. Then, yeah, AI was the album that got me SUPER into them, so maybe a heartgrenade. But Warning was the first album, and possibly also my favorite, so the lightning guy would also be a cool one. I am not a huge fan of lyric tattoos.

Fuck it. Time to get a Green Day sleeve.

I mean, maybe. Shit. I'd better get the bunny on my arm so that's an option later.

I'm thinking bunny on my back left shoulder blade. Nice and big too, if I'm gonna do this, I wanna do it well.

When's Ringo coming on? He's waited long enough!

I wish I was creative like BJA and thought of getting a fucking photobooth tattoo.

It's just like the guy who invented the pet rock. Seems so easy after it's done.

Hah, I was originally thinking right shoulder blade. I might still do that, and then get the Warning guy on my right shoulder. And so the sleeve begins.

Just do it, dude. He probably wasn't even the first person to get a tattoo like that. Everything's been done before.

I knew a couple Green Day songs in the late 90s, but I didn't get hardcore into them until American Idiot (still considering myself a fan since Good Riddance was released, though). I can't think of anything else unless an illustration of song lyrics.

I debated on getting that one for a while because like you, I didn't get into them until AI (actually, the first time I heard them I wasn't a fan of them and didn't listen to them for a year or two, and then I became a fan) and that album means so much to me.

The heart grenade would be the easiest to draw up.

So many possibilities...

I'd totes get one with my family on it.

I really want Salaam written in Arabic on my left wrist, a tattoo of Jesus, and a star between my thumb and pointer.

RBS may have gotten the MVP Post, but I think we all know who should get the Most Valuable Troll award:

Chuck Yarborough, author of this article, known for this quote:

"The band, whose members have declined repeated requests for interviews in light of their Rock Hall induction, also used their website to note a 'special announcement' would be made at the induction ceremony."

But they'd have time. Joan Jett showed up there.

I was going to quote my favorite parts here but then I realized I'd have to quote everything!

My favorite parts were the mentions of Dave Mello, John Kiffmeyer, Tim Armstrong, Operation Ivy, and Crimpshrine. That says a lot about me, doesn't it?

Awful videoing. Vertical video? Yuck.

Except I didn't record it and if you watched more than 20 seconds of the video, it switches to landscape.

There are loads of images you could use. You should look through the inlay cards/liner notes especially from AI and 21st Century Breakdown. They have a lot of symbols and art. Also remember the single artwork. Think about how it relates to the songs/lyrics and then how these relate to you or how it matters to your life/you as a fan or maybe something big in your life that you feel one song in particular makes you feel you relate to so see if you can find any artwork related to that etc.

I did that for mine and got part of the cover of BLVD of Broken Dreams not because it's my favourite song (NO!!!) but because it reminds me that I have that "St Jimmy" demon that isn't necessarily drugs or whatever that I deal with that but while I feel I walk alone with it I don't and hearing that song for the first time at the worst time for me was like "hey other miserable people exist" lol. It serves as that reminder in tough times. So yeah my point is there are a zillion different artwork GD related choices out there...I would advise you to pick something that will mean something to YOU.

Just even think of Dookie...so so many art choices. ;)

BJ: But most of all, I have to thank Rob Cavallo. We've only worked with two producers our entire career, and Butch Vig did one record, so thank you, Butch. Rob, he did all of them. So thank you so much, and I really feel like you're a brother. We're kindred spirits in the fact that we can sit around and play songs all day long together, and to speak in that language I just love to talk about it with you. And we'll talk about it later. Thank you, Rob.

"and extra special thanks to my good buddy and drummer extraordinaire John Kiffmeyer, right over there."
