No, not to Rob. To Pat, their manager.

Oh, okay, yes, mixed them up.

Patti Smith Gets Emotional, Yoko Misses John (and George), More Seen & Heard at Rock Hall Ceremony: http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/6538693/patti-smith-gets-emotional-yoko-ono-misses-john-and-george-more-seen-heard-at

Green Day livened up its red carpet arrival before the ceremony by crossing over to the fan viewing area to press flesh, sign autographs and take pictures with some clearly surprised and overwhelmed fans. Afterwards, bassist Mike Dirnt spoke with Billboard. "It’s humbling, but I feel like it justified everybody’s belief in this band outside of just the band," he said. "It’s really about the fans.” Drummer Tre Cool termed the experience “unreal. It’s so cool. Cleveland definitely rocks tonight.” Green Day, of course, opened the 2012 induction ceremony when it was last in Cleveland; asked if they could have imagined then being inducted upon its return, Dirnt said, “Never in a million years,” while Cool quipped, “I thought it would be four or five years later.” What’s next for Green Day, which recently resumed rehearsing, according to Dirnt? “More ass-kicking,” Cool answered.

If I had a dollar for every post I've read like this on the internet I would be whiping my ass with money

Someone on Facebook tried to pick a fight with me yesterday and said, "Green Day is bullshit pop-punk that doesn't even deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. They're not real rock music and they don't fucking matter at all."

I said, "Green Day has been one of the most influential rock bands in recent musical history with an incredible career spanning over 25 years. Have you heard Dookie? Dookie's the sole reason pop-punk is even a genre. Blink-182, Sum 41, 21 Pilots, Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, and literally thousands of other bands would have never risen to prominence or even existed without Green Day. Any popular rock music you've heard since 1994 has been influenced by Green Day, consciously or not. Also, The Bee Gees were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997 and there's no way you can tell me that The Bee Gees is more of a rock group than Green Day."

People are so funny, honestly. I get such a kick out of holier-than-thou Internet posters. :D

A lot of other bands in the genre did too. I believe New Found Glory did, as well as Hayley Williams (who is engaged to their guitarist). Also, fun fact: Ryan Key from Yellowcard was at the House of Blues show on Thursday.

I loved the what you get is Deliverance line. That was just brilliant.

Seeing so many of my favourite bands thanking my number one favourite band for everything they've done is far too big a deal to me.

What an absolute delight to watch Mike dancing to "I Wanna Be Your Man"! He was so excited!

I remember getting pro-shot induction speeches and performances the day GNR got inducted though. Also, Billie said that they only ever had two producers but didn't Larry Livermore produce 1039?

No.

No.

So it was self-produced by Green Day, then? And you distributed? :toocool:

via billiejoearmstrong ~ dear you I can't express enough how much love is in my heart for all of you in our green day community. for me to try to put it into words almost feels awkward. sometimes I don't always like to use the word "fan". I think I can speak on behalf of me mike and Tre when I call you family or community. Because you all truly grew up together with us and shared this journey together. this is more than an award. it's the privilege to play music, write songs and follow this psychotic passion called rock n roll. and We share this honor together. because honestly YOU ARE our rock n roll hall of fame. idiot nation forever rage and love Billie Joe

The booklets state Andy Ernst and Green Day as producer

Larry owned Lookout and that's who released the albums I don't recall seeing this credit but Larry would be credited as the executive producer (tho I don't recall Larry ever crediting himself as such)

I wasn't even in the studio when they recorded it, but I worked with both Andy and Green Day enough to know that they probably did most of the "producing" themselves. Andy was very laid-back, and seldom offered much in the way of suggestions or criticisms unless you really pried them out of him, and Green Day were the kind of band that pretty much knew exactly what they wanted and how to go about getting it. So regardless of what it says on the record, I'd consider it a Green Day production with Andy as engineer and maybe assistant producer.

Is it weird that I love Green Day but hate most of the bands they've inspired?

Same here, not weird at all. Those bands tend to be repetitive, annoying, unoriginal and eventually, they're nothing more than "edgy" variants of the boy band stereotype.
