AlissaGoesRAWR Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Ugh, rather disappointed with the poll results right now--Green Day is still fourth, but now only coming in at 7.72%. No offense to whoever Stevie Ray Vaughn is, but I honestly have never heard of the man. Could it be that he also has a cult following of sorts that is voting over and over again? I've not got much of a problem with Nine Inch Nails, though--I'd just like to see Green Day get the HOF nod. As I said before, I really don't think the poll will influence the overall decision that much.
Laetitia Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 As I said before, I really don't think the poll will influence the overall decision that much. Yes, I somewhat agree, but it'd be nice to see GD dominating the poll. That would make me just glow inside.

However, I still don't see why GD's getting so much flak in the comments section for allegedly selling out--they haven't really (although I'm still a bit irked over that Twilight gig), and it's not like other rock bands haven't. Johnny Rotten butter commercial much? SRV is a legend...
Chin for a Day Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 SRV is a legend... SRV deserves the HOF nod, with GD and Bill Withers. Ugh, rather disappointed with the poll results right now--Green Day is still fourth, but now only coming in at 7.72%. No offense to whoever Stevie Ray Vaughn is, but I honestly have never heard of the man. Could it be that he also has a cult following of sorts that is voting over and over again? Johnny Rotten butter commercial much? I wouldn't worry about the poll numbers. I don't think the 700+ voters will pay much attention. Most of them probably would vote their mind regardless of the fan vote. Plus, I would hope most of them are smart enough to realize that polls, like the fan vote, are easily manipulated.
Guest Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 I just casually thought about trying to get tickets to the HOF induction (if Green Day is inducted) and my stomach clenched up and I nearly died of anxiety.
Laetitia Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 SRV is a legend... Sorry, I meant no offense, I've just never heard of him. I didn't listen to anything but classical and baroque music until I was twelve.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I just casually thought about trying to get tickets to the HOF induction (if Green Day is inducted) and my stomach clenched up and I nearly died of anxiety. I'm just going to go for it and see what happens. Honestly, I'm unsure if there's even a limit of what I'm willing to pay on StubHub to make this happen. It's less than an hour away, so I wouldn't even need to pay for a hotel or much travel.

That's exciting though - how many tickets are available to the public.
GugsGreenDay Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 It was time, finally! Though I think this award a bit rubbish ...
lizziebix Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I'm sure it's been mentioned somewhere in here but looking on my phone is a pain...so when does this get announced?
Heather. Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I'm sure it's been mentioned somewhere in here but looking on my phone is a pain...so when does this get announced? There is no set date, but it is generally announced at the end of the year---like mid/late December.
Hermione Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I like the announcement at the top of GDC right now . Really would be cool to see them get in.
Z J Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 I like the announcement at the top of GDC right now . Really would be cool to see them get in. We've got no shot, Paramore always wins Always
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 That's exciting though - how many tickets are available to the public. No clue, but probably not too many. From what I hear, they sell out within a minute or so of being posted online. So I'm not exactly optimistic, but at the same time that means I won't be disappointed if I don't get any!
lizziebix Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 There is no set date, but it is generally announced at the end of the year---like mid/late December.Okay. Thanks.
HungryHungryModels Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 LMAO The look on my face when I seen this comment on the Rolling Stone's voting poll. Props to our boi Will, you know I had to up-vote that shiz.
Penguin Puffball Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Joan Jett and Stevie Ray Vaughn will definitely get in. I haven't even heard of half the bands nominated so I think Green Day will get in just for the sheer level of their current popularity.
moonflower93 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 on top of GD i'd like to see lou reed in as well.
WhiteTim Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Sorry, I meant no offense, I've just never heard of him. I didn't listen to anything but classical and baroque music until I was twelve. Oh no offense taken I wasnt bashin Ya sorry if you thought I was
pdx2ord Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Of COURSE they picked Green Day as the photo on this article, even though the main argument revolves around The Supremes. http://www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/2014/10/17/357009772/the-right-way-to-complain-about-the-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=npr&utm_term=nprnews&utm_content=2043

I found it extremely interesting.
pdx2ord Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Definitely interesting. Just thought funny they chose the obvious lightning-rod band out of all the options.
