Doesn't she already have more than enough money from Mike. What are we even donating for? Why would we only support one person just because she is involved with one of the members of Green Day? Is she more important than all the other people with cancer?

Do you honestly take pride in being so unpleasant? A little while ago I suggested that you might try and gain your much craved attention in a more positive way, since then you've proved you really don't give a toss. It's a shame, because the only loser in all of this is you.

Getting back to the important issue here, I support any endeavour to raise money to help combat this awful disease.

Thanks everyone for "explaining" to Seagull. I was about to and got called away so it's nice to see people responding and still being positive about the fundraising efforts - whomever the name on the sheet is for - the money all goes to research for everyone fighting this terrible disease.

Were you supporting this cause before Mike posted the news. I've done some research and he posted these bad news in May and this thread was made later. I am just curious if you were supporting this foundation before too or are you supporting it because Mike from Green Day is involved in it. As far as I know this foundation is 20 years old. Was this debated before too.

Does it even matter if that is the case? Can't you just be glad that more people are now supporting it? Why does the reason matter? Mike and Britt are doing something great by continuing to raise awareness of the cause, and there's no reason to shit all over it.

Does it matter? Personally, many, many people in my life have been affected by cancer. My brother nearly died from it. My friend's mom died from it last year. Someone I know is currently dying from it as I type these words. I'm just fucking pleased that Brittany is using her celebrity status to bring in more money for cancer research and to make a difference in fighting this horrible, horrible disease.

Why do you care whether people supported the charity before? The end result of this is that money will be raised to help beat a disease that kills millions of people all over the world. If it takes the support of a celebrity to help raise awareness of a cause, then I fail to see a problem.

Go and troll neopets or something, I hear it's been quiet there since rootbeersoup lost interest.

But again, the whole point of Mike's public involvement is to raise awareness for this charity. It's positive if people are now aware of it because of him. Your argument (or trolling) makes no sense.

The woman who was basically my second mother died from lung cancer so yes I support any charity or any place that is trying to find a cure for cancer...

That's what I am trying to say this whole time. I know many people that were dealing with cancer too and I think this foundation and many others are doing wonderful job by trying to help people with cancer. I just think that this whole "team Brittney" is just showing that people here started supporting this cause because a Green Day family member is involved with this foundation. I just think this cause wouldn't get that much of interest from GDC members if Mike wouldn't post that news. There are many great foundations that are fighting for other causes too but I would bet people here never heard about them. So the thing I am trying to say that this thread could be renamed to Avon walk for breast cancer in support of everyone.

The money goes to the foundation no matter whose team you donate to if you donate to Team Ashley or Team Brittney or Team Susan it all goes to the same place

If you don't want to donate to Mike's wife don't do it you're not being forced to

Yes, I've supported this foundation and many others that fight cancer since my mom is a breast cancer survivor.

However, there are many people that have never been affected by cancer in their own lives and I think this is a great way to let people know about the great foundations that are out there fighting to cure cancer and be supportive of family and friends that have it, have had it and whether they survived or not.

Could also look at supporting this for some people here as while everyone here knows (or at least should know) of cancer and what it does to people but there may be some people here that never cared to donate until they saw someone who they are a fan of being affected by it and so now they want to do something to help out which is a good thing some people (not bashing or that it's wrong) ignore stuff when it doesn't directly affect them for some people they may be lucky to have no family that has cancer or friends who have cancer so it really doesn't strike them to reach out and donate to the cause but if they hear a member of their favorite band who he or she feels a connection to is dealing with cancer (yes Mikes not going thru cancer himself but his wife is so he is dealing with it too) and he or she sees Mike or someone saying donate to this cause for cancer he or she may be like "hey I have a spare 5/10 whatever to spare let me donate" the money is going to a very good cause...

The news about Brittney's cancer was announced in May but the news that she's doing this walk was announced just before this thread was made. The reason there's a thread for this here now is because it's Green Day related news, Brittney and Mike announced that they were taking part in this walk so of course there's a thread for commending them for supporting a good cause and so that people hear about this particular event and might take part in or support it themselves.

I'm certain many people here support many different cancer charities including this one, there's charities and events like this all over the world and there's been plenty of threads about them made in General Chat in the past (plus just because not everyone posts about supporting a charity on GDC it doesn't mean they don't do it!). We've happened to hear about this particular event through Brittney and Mike rather than a random person posting about it on the forum but that's not the reason for supporting it, the "team Brittney" part is just a means to donate to the charity and also show support to Brittney while she's fighting the disease and doing her bit to help (just as every other person with cancer who's doing the walk is shown support by the people sponsoring them). At the end of the day it raises money and awareness for a cancer charity so I really don't see the issue.

Seeing Brittney's "Fuck Cancer" tshirt got me thinking. Would be cool to have a tshirt was "Fuck Cancer" on it in the style of Awesome As F**k with the pink writting.

I'd actually love to make this happen but don't really have the time, if someone would like to then shoot me a PM.

I think it'd be cool in the style of the GDA wristbands, like Fuck C****r.
