desertrose Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 jimthiebaud 12 hours ago Notes from the punk rock record store night. #3. 100% awesome(on so many levels) to see 2 and 1/2 men play tonight. Jason on bass, Billie on guitar and his son Joey on drums. They killed it and Joey was great. Kicked out so many GD gems- my voice is horse from singing (and smiling) along. Best of all - seeing father and son enjoy the moment together - ruled.... And Jason on Bass..not too shabby either... Time flies and family and friends are what truly remain. Tonight was one of those reminders how special this journey is. Enjoy it guys. Ps - visit your local punk rock record shop...trust me... It's worth it.
JOE THE X-KID Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I have a feeling we're not gonna get full videos
Todd Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Really no one's going to say it? y'all going to make me say it? fine... THE DREADS ARE GONE! *beams of holy light descend from the heavens to the choir of angels and illuminate a pair of scissors* They've been gone for a while... where have you been?
Todd Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Word of mouth. Seemed like it was a mix of friends of the bands, a bunch of people from Jingle Town and the documentary crew, a few regulars from the store, and a few random fans. It was a very small show, not sure how many people were there, but it was probably around 40-50. The room was surprisingly half empty, this was a very well kept secret. California were really good. It was a nice evening, I invited a couple friends that are big Green Day fans and they were very happy afterwords. Sounds amazing! Was the show recorded? What are the chances we can get some full footage of this amazing show, with a stellar setlist?
FoxyTwitch Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 For all the stick I give him, Jason must be a pretty handy bassist to pull off Stuck With Me. He did used to play bass. So imagine he'd cope alright.
Cori Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Sounds like an awesome setlist! It's pretty cool to see Billie and Joey rocking out together with Jason like that. (Oh, and it appears Billie has found the fountain of youth once more. Not that he ever lost it. )

inthehallwaynow Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 fuck you, sir. haha not today but yea i can dislike crap playing
That Dude Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Love the unusual song choices! Nothing from American Idiot, Dookie or Dos but a good mix from every other release. Dos could have gotten some love, but let's face it: we've heard Dookie and American Idiot played live many, many times. Hope they do more shows!
JOE THE X-KID Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Its not crap but its a lot more loose and not as tight as Tre's drumming. I dont really care though, its not a stadium gig. Theyre just having fun and we got Walking Alone and Church on sunday from it
Todd Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 we got Walking Alone and Church on sunday from it Until I see videos, we didn't get jack shit
UNICORN VOMIT Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 With that setlist - would they have had to practice a lot - perhaps a musician could answer how hard is it to pick up songs that you haven't played for ages.
ThranaM Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 If I recall correctly, the last time they played Church On Sunday was during a soundcheck in 2010 But I've never heard Walking Alone live before though
Jack Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 With that setlist - would they have had to practice a lot - perhaps a musician could answer how hard is it to pick up songs that you haven't played for ages. Not too terribly hard, especially when they're YOUR songs, haha. For Billie, not hard, I don't think. For Jason, he's played most of these songs live with Green Day at some point during his touring career with them. But Joey...damn. That kid must have practiced his ass off. He can drum pretty well, but I can't imagine he sits at home and hammers out Green Day songs in his spare time...so I bet he had to do some learning.
whatsername Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 This is awesome and it's cool to see Billie and Joey playing together.
Tubbie Head Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Maybe it was Joey who picked the set-list. "Dad, I'll only play with you if you let me pick the songs!"
Todd Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Maybe it was Joey who picked the set-list. "Dad, I'll only play with you if you let me pick the songs!" That's what I was thinking, Joey probably picked out a few songs, it's only fair that he had some say in the setlist.
desertrose Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Video clip Nucelar Family http://web.stagram.com/p/741462361486874927_146119053 doug94611 Here's a clip of "Nuclear Family" from last night's fun set @1234gorecords in Oakland. Billie Joe, son Joey & Jason White had a blast playing #greenday songs. Glad I could be a part of this show. #greenday #nuclearfamily #1234gorecords #billiejoearmstrong 2h
UNICORN VOMIT Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Maybe it was Joey who picked the set-list. "Dad, I'll only play with you if you let me pick the songs!" Joey please pick the setlists for the next GD tour
