Guest Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Are FOB even relevant anymore? I remember hearing their new song a bit ago and I couldn't shut it off fast enough. Complete tripe. I say as I post on a green day forum, post-Trilogy The vast majority of the Trilogy is still better than anything FOB have ever released.
That Dude Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Fall Out Boy are decent...I have their Under the Corktree and Save Rock N Roll, which are both good albums. All the other albums, hit or miss.
Grinch Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 For those wondering what's next for a new #1 hit...
That Dude Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 There was a Green Day era that never really got it's day in the light. After American Idiot but before 21st Century Breakdown, the band released three non-album singles: The Saints are Coming, Working Class Hero and the Simpsons Theme. I know they are all covers, but the first two are executed to perfection. U2 and Green Day's version of the Saints are Coming is one of my favorite songs of all time. The live version, WOW. and Working Class Hero was great as well. The videos for both had politics playing a big part, and were very powerful. When I first heard these tracks in 2006 and 2007, I was so excited for the next thing from the guys. They were dressed a little different than before...and then....we got the Foxboro Hot Tubs, which was awesome, but a totally different direction that what I was expecting. 21st Century Breakdown in turn went yet into a whole other direction. It was awesome as well, but I felt like 2006-2007 Green Day was really onto something. They had a certain sound in those songs that just chilled me to the bone. I know it was only two songs, and covers at that. But MAN. Those two songs just send shivers down my spine and tears to my eyes.
Libertine Angel Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 For those wondering what's next for a new #1 hit... I honestly wouldn't be surprised. They'd probably not look a day over 70 by then anyway.

I never thought of it that way before but you're so right, it really was a little mini-era! For me Working Class Hero was especially great.

Working Class Hero will always be my favorite cover by Green Day. Although I do have a soft spot for "Eye of the Tiger"
Chin for a Day Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Working Class Hero is phenomenal. But I think their cover of A Quick One is better than the original.
That Dude Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Working Class Hero is phenomenal. But I think their cover of A Quick One is better than the original. A Quick One is great. Another track that is so emotional it just shakes me up every time. I find myself wishing the "you are forgiven" segment would go on forever. I saw a performance of it by the Foxboro Hot Tubs where it actually did. I think they skipped the "cello" part and extended the ending.

Their style during this era was kind of cool as well. Billie Joe wore either a denim jacket or a simple, all black outfit, sometimes with a black and white scarf. Mike, Tre and Jason wore similar casual black clothing and sometimes Mike would wear a white dress shirt with black tie.

Although I do have a soft spot for "Eye of the Tiger" Eye of the Tiger was one of the first covers of theirs that I heard, or possibly the first, I remember my brother downloaded it randomly. I was impressed A Quick One is great. Another track that is so emotional it just shakes me up every time. I find myself wishing the "you are forgiven" segment would go on forever. I saw a performance of it by the Foxboro Hot Tubs where it actually did. I think they skipped the "cello" part and extended the ending. Same! Saw the Foxies extend it for about 15 minutes, and thinking it would be the last song (although they actually played Stop Drop and Roll one last time afterwards) I made a conscious effort to try and drink in every moment of it and remember the experience as hard as I could. It totally worked, I still get the feeling of being at that show when I listen to it now Their style during this era was kind of cool as well. Chin for a Day Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Agreed. And Billie also had good hair That's because he actually cut it and combed it back then.
Mykee Mexx Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Working Class Hero will always be my favorite cover by Green Day. Hermione Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 That's because he actually cut it and combed it back then. True some of the time but it varied a lot, he also had some delightful scruffy styles and even this Jesus look at one point
That Dude Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 That must have been incredible to see live. Just to clarify...when I said I saw a performance of A Quick One (While He's Away) I didn't mean in person. I meant I saw it on youtube. It was incredible, but don't be jealous Hermione.

Do you know what video it was of Foxboro doing it? Not sure if I've seen a decent one as most are just little clips.

I can't find the one I was talking about, but found another one that's good quality:
Chin for a Day Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 That was great!!! But I thought the first guy on stage was going to choke billie.
That Dude Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 There's been some talk of Billie Joe's hair. Not that this matters at all, but he should change it up a bit sometimes (other than bleaching it every few years). Like shave his head, or let it get really long. Or a mohawk. Also, he can rock a beard. Bald with a beard, now that would be different for him. Wow, this board is coming to a standstill....
tommygoodtimee Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I really don't see why people think they're going to break up. Like everyone said, they have done this before. They all love Green Day so much that they wont stop. However, I definitely think it will take time for a new album or even a tour because of what Mike and Jason are going through. I would love to see them come back with a killer album that everybody can love. I actually have a lot of faith that it can happen And even if they do decide to call it quits, it's not like there will be bad blood. And I'm sure Billie will never stop making music either way.

Bald with a beard...Like Tim Armstrong? or like Heisenberg " I am not in danger...I am the danger...my middle name is Danger! "

" Yes, yes and yes! and also like me...I had the bald with goatee look long before Breaking Bad came out, but not everyone calls me Walter at work. Haha.
