FoxyTwitch Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 This song has been covered a lot already so I don't see the big deal. The blond one that looks like Ellen said on his twitter that GD are one of his favourite bands and he listened to AI all the time when he was younger. If Glee get to cover GD why not 1D?
Elena Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 lol and lol my research concludes 21 guns was #78 on the billboard top 100 of 2009 chart. right above soulja boy's turn my swag on. but still two below taylor swift's white horse. wow...i exaggerated a bit, didn't think you'd seriously google on what chart position it was...what i wanted to say is that i remember it being damn popular, everyone knew the song and everyone listened to it...as i said it probably depends on where you live...here it was popular, my non green day fan friend just confirmed to have heard it so often on the radio that she started to hate it somewhen, so it must have been popular... plus the song did reach #22 of said charts...
ifmemoryserves Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 yeah and imo it wasn't, though well, rock music is probably always less popular than pop, but 21 Guns really was one of the most popular songs of the year then...the album...no idea...but of which (mainstream) artist do ya know more than one song? idk...i've seen them as damn popular, might depend on where you live on how you view that most of them?? if an artist only has one hit song from an album they're not really considered popular at all. sure for that one song, but then they just fade back into obscurity and by the time they put out anything else no one really cares. FoxyTwitch Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 I didn't say it was related I was just using it as an example.
Elena Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 most of them?? if an artist only has one hit song from an album they're not really considered popular at all. sure for that one song, but then they just fade back into obscurity and by the time they put out anything else no one really cares. and? if a song by any artist is popular then that artist is popular at that time...doesn't mean they stay popular, but that song makes them popular for a short time...oh yeah and of most artists in the charts you hear maximum 3 songs and that's it, still they're considered as popular at the time the song came out...
klytaemnestra Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Oooh, Number 1 in Poland. They've made it now. scuse u i'll have you know my people are very influential when it comes to determining The Next Big Thing. that's why hitler wanted us so badly.
ifmemoryserves Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 and? if a song by any artist is popular then that artist is popular at that time...doesn't mean they stay popular, but that song makes them popular for a short time...oh yeah and of most artists in the charts you hear maximum 3 songs and that's it, still they're considered as popular at the time the song came out...yes but what i'm saying is that their popularity at that time is kind of fabricated. they might have a popular song, but when their new music eventually comes out, radio stations aren't going to automatically just throw it into rotation. for instance when a new katy perry song is released it's instantly everywhere. obviously that same thing doesn't happen with green day.but regardless, i still don't think green day was at even that fabricated level of popularity with 21 guns.
klytaemnestra Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 FUCK OFF ONE DIRECTION i'm sure they'll see this and heed your stern warning
Elena Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 yes but what i'm saying is that their popularity at that time is kind of fabricated. they might have a popular song, but when their new music eventually comes out, radio stations aren't going to automatically just throw it into rotation. for instance when a new katy perry song is released it's instantly everywhere. obviously that same thing doesn't happen with green day. but regardless, i still don't think green day was at even that fabricated level of popularity with 21 guns. meh idk...it's pointless to argue about that anymore, no one would change their opinion either way and the topic of this thread is another
ifmemoryserves Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 meh idk...it's pointless to argue about that anymore, no one would change their opinion either way and the topic of this thread is another ok whatever. i don't see how there's really much to discuss in a thread like this anyways. even if 1d had covered wmuwse, it would just be people shouting "EW IT SUCKS" or people saying "hey it's not bad" and both of those groups arguing with each other about various types of bullshit.
fukingcounterstrike Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 scuse u i'll have you know my people are very influential when it comes to determining The Next Big Thing. that's why hitler wanted us so badly. How can you be polish with how ginger you are?

fukingcounterstrike Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 hahaha fair point would also account for the ginger tbf maybe ceadog is my dad now that's a scary thought
klytaemnestra Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 now that's a scary thought i'm gonna go question my mum very closely.
ifmemoryserves Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 one: did they even play it live or just sound check with ittwo: if you make music that appeals to the masses and everyone knows who you are your pop regardless of hits or relevanceyexample: backstreet boys haven't been relevant in for ever still pop same with brittney spears not relevant still pop get it1) they didn't actually do either. people apparently mistook them soundchecking one of their own songs as wmuwse (???)2) yes but we are talking about popularity, not just being in the pop genre
fukingcounterstrike Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 one: did they even play it live or just sound check with it two: if you make music that appeals to the masses and everyone knows who you are your pop regardless of hits or relevancey example: backstreet boys haven't been relevant in for ever still pop same with brittney spears not relevant still pop get it you're* and I'm not getting it yet, can you use more relevant examples?

That's because Reprise doesn't pay the stations as much as Katy Perry people do lol
