I only liked Homecoming and sort of Jesus of Suburbia. But those songs are so great that it's hard to screw them up.

This whole thing was a really dumb idea. Green Day is far and above the best in their genre so why get all these pop punk artists to cover it. It would have only worked if they were more rock n roll style artists doing them. Like that last night on earth cover someone did a few years back. Can't remember who it was but that was miles better than any of these.

Now that I know Halestorm was slated to do the title track I'm super bummed, because their covers are always better than the original versions. Always. I actually prefer their cover EPs to their studio albums.

Nobody can compete with Billie Joe's vocals, especially on this album. They're just so good!

Billie himself said he can't sing. So I don't know what you're talking about. First time I actually heard "walk alone" instead of "wore cologne" in BOBD song.

Billie himself has said a lot of things. :P

Halestorm has some great covers! Though I still have nightmares about that God-awful version of "Close Me Eyes Forever" that Lzzy Hale did with David Draiman's other band.

Fortunately for me, I haven't heard that one. Their cover of "Bad Romance" was how I was introduced to them, and their "Slave to the Grind" is quite possibly one of my favorite things ever. I think the only one of theirs I've heard that *maybe* hasn't surpassed the original is "I Want You (She's So Heavy)"--and that's The Beatles, so no shame in not being able to top it.

I just wish they could afford to license "Black Dog" for an EP, because Lzzy's vocals on that one are about a million times stronger than Robert Plant's. :P

I actually think Neck Deep's BOBD would be a damn good song if I didn't know what it was like originally. I might actually check out their own stuff.

Neck Deep is sweet. Definitely check them out. Their first two EPs make them sound like a The Story So Far cover band, but their album is awesome early-2000s-style pop punk (Americanpiecore), perfect summer music

Here is my take on it all.

5SOS for American Idiot: Actually pretty good, not exactly the same and put a bit of a spin on it. The biggest surprise of the album.

RTR for Jesus Of Suburbia: Mixed feelings for this at times the singing sounds like it was done on a computer other times it sounds awesome.

The Blackout for Holiday: Pretty good, will take some getting used to with the screaming bit, which ruined it a little.

Neck Deep for BOBD: Decent, I would have greater feelings for it if I hadn't heard Green Day's version.

YMAS for AWTW: Pretty good, combines the sounds of the two bands fairly well. Except with Josh singing it sounds more soothing then Billie singing.

BFS for St. Jimmy: BFS didn't fail to deliever awesomeness. This song is the prefect fit for them, its not all that different to the original but it didn't have to be.

ETF for GMN: Pretty good cover. Not really much to say about except the lyrics are a little clearer.

FIR for SAR: I actually liked the cover except for the stupid screaming bit in the middle, I couldn't tell if they were trying to be smartarses or are just really bad at putting their own touch on things.

Frank Iero for EG: Ok this is absolutely horrible. Its not even music anymore.

LA for Letterbomb: Pretty good, just the vocalist needed a little more power, as it seemed a little weak.

TD for WMUWSE: It was going so well until they started screaming, they pretty much missed the entire point of the song.

LTB for Homecoming: Has its moments, gets better as the song goes on.

NP for Whatsername: I found this to be pretty weak. Not good but not bad.

Both the Dookie covers were pretty good as well.

I would say I will keep listening to the covers of AI, AWTW and SJ maybe even SAR if that screamng part is not there.

Honestly, I can't understand why Green Day are put in the company of these shitty emo bands. Do people in the real world actually think that Green Day belong with those bands? If so, I might have to consider hiding my GD posters...

I got trolled so hard reading Steven Seagull's posts in this thread

I reviewed it on my youtube channel, join me in the rage...

If One Direction turned Punk. This is legitimently the worst group of covers I've ever heard. Fucking 5SOS? What the fuck!

Half way through right now. It's really not terrible. It's no where near as good as the originals, but I didn't expect it to be. Questionable styles of music so far, but it's not horrible. So far.

You like pop shit auto-tuned boy bands?

I don't like Frank Iero's cover of Extraordinary Girl, but you gotta respect him for doing it. He completely made the song his own, and took it a million miles away from the original. In that sense, it's probably the best cover on the album.

WMUWSP definitely wakes you up. So awesome!

I'll force myself once to hear this thing fully through and then I'll ignore it till the end of times :)

They are just being unique and being themselves. It's called a cover for a reason. I don't want to listen someone who copies Green Day. Every song on this tribute album is special. The arrangements are much better than on original album. This > Original

They are not being unique, actually the opposite. Their joke was then putting a breakdown in because every heavy bands' cover songs have one.

That breakdown was pretty funny. :P And the song was awesome too.

I'm gonna get an assault charge placed on Radke eventually, over Instagram he threatened me id love to meet him and get him in trouble again.

5 Seconds of Summer censored the word 'faggot'. The irony.

I'm listening to American Idiot and it's better than I thought! Not fond on the style, but it's more or less "objectively" good. Some nice changes.

If you honestly think he can't sing.... I don't know what to tell you. :P
