This CD was released while I was going through a divorce. It was such an exciting time of my life :) The audience reactions is what I think is so different from bullet in a bible. Green Day represents the times of our lives. We remember where we were.

The live recordings of "Burnout' and "Going to Pasalacqua" make this entire album worth the release

Pretty much this. If there's any reason why I really love this live album, it's this.

I feel like the variety of old and new songs on Awesome as Fuck made it a better live CD than Bullet in a Bible

But it's awesome, how can you be a GD fan when you can't even at least respect what they release? Not everything they realeased will be a bed of roses

Ha. You don't have to like everything the band releases. I couldn't care less for the trilogy but it doesn't make me less of a fan. Same goes for anyone else who doesn't care for a particular song or album.

I wasn't very interested in AAF. Bought the DVD, watched it once. Listened to the album a couple times and took it off my iPod permanently. BIAB was always my preference.

Oh shit, it is, isn't it? It feels like yesterday I had to have Laura buy it for me (since I was on campus all day) and we met for dinner. I had to get it ASAP because I wrote a review of it for the college newspaper  [/cool story, bro]

I just love 21st CB and Going To Pasalaqua from the CD

Jesus Of Suburbia and Welcome To Paradise are the best ones from the DVD

I think the DVD version of AAF is too much edited. with effects etc, and it's not a full show, but BIAB is that also not. BIAB is lot bigger concert, which i like more.

The CD of AAF is amazing. I gonne buy the vinyl version of it soon. The Itunes bonus songs are also really great. But i hate Itunes, thats songs should be on the disc!

I hope they will make an Live Album/dvd of this tour. The Triology songs sounds a lot better live, than on the record.

But if it's not happend, we have the Reading festival full show.

The DVD is utter shite but the CD song selection is great, but kinda ruined by terrible mixing

For some reason, the tracks are edited in a way or another, like Billie's voice or cut songs on the middle. The dvd edition is poor. Too much cut/paste thing. The real deal with live records is that they are live, not a bunch of things that sounds perfect with studio edition.

For what it's worth, Billie's voice on the CD sounds the same in all of the fan video from the same shows. Seems his voice was just better

idk... i love the older songs on AAF....

The DVD for me wins for two reasons:

American Eulogy

The Static Age

I prefer this over BIAB both CD and DVD because I like the sound and editing better

I love the fact that JAR from the show I was at was used on the CD. That was the best concert I've ever been to.

The DVD is a disaster. The editing is horrible and I can't stand black and white footage for a live show. Holiday in particular sticks out as a sore thumb as far as editing goes. Billie isn't even singing in one of the clips.

Would it kill Green Day to just put out an unedited concert? Like the whole damn show? Or at least edit it so that it seems like an actual concert. Muse's Live At Rome Olympic Stadium DVD is phenomenal. Have a DVD like that.

Wow! Time flies! :o Happy Birthday, Awesome As Fuck!

I remember when they first announced the tracklist, I was sitting in the living room and when I read that there were 2 songs on there from a show I've been to I jumped up and down on my chair, screaming. My mom thought I've gone totally batshit crazy

I love the interviews between the songs on Bullet In a Bible, I wish AAF had something like that. But AAF has Going To Pasalacqua, Viva La Gloria!, Christie Road etc

Although I think BIAB is the better live album AAF will always hold a special place in my heart. I was at Denver when the played Cigarettes and Valentines so the fact that it got a spot on the album makes me really happy. I remember skipping my first period to go pick the CD up. My dad was supposed to call in to excuse me but he forgot so I get detention for it (sooo punx rawk). Plus I think the pink, black, and grey color scheme just looks really cool.

Awesome As Fuck! Is Awesome As FUCCKKK!!!!!

I love this album! More the audio than the video, but still pretty cool to watch!

And I really love the extra songs, specially Christie Road, makes me wish they would re-record or just play more of those oldies. They're so good to listen to with Billie's current vocals, it's like they're new songs.

I haven't watched the video and I only have the songs that aren't tagged as explicit on iTunes, but AAF has a special place in my heart. When it came out, I was obsessed with East Jesus Nowhere. I absolutely had to have a live version. As I got money, I bought individual songs. I eventually had everything I was allowed to buy. Songs like Burnout and When I Come Around gave me the desire to hear all of Dookie. I bought Green Day's albums all out of order, so AAF really helped me to decide which one to get next. :)

I wish it was more than just the concert.. It didn't have to be like bullet in the bibles documentary but it would have been cool to add like some of the guys commentary on why they choose to use that specific performance of that song, how the tour differed from the American idiot tour, what they do backstage, any fun things they got to do while touring etc

As far as the audio CD goes, it Awesome As Fuck was shit compared to Bullet In A Bible(I'm biased as I don't have the actual AAF CD).

I didnt say it made you less of a fan if you diliked something that band releases. But that you can at least respect what they put into it because they believed in it. It's fine if you don't like a particular album or whatever from a band, just respect it.

Late. But how much I love both the show and and the cd  I enjoy GD live music so much that this is my favorite to listen! (more than BIAB :ga: )
I can't wait for another treasure like this... with all the new recordings they should totally make a new one!

Late as well but I want to express my love for this. Well the CD anyway I'm not particularly into listening to live CDs and was bored by the BIAB one, but AAF is perfect. It somehow captures the energy of a Green Day show and of that tour just right, and I really like how the songs are from different shows (and especially like how the first song is from a show I attended :D). The DVD is alright, seeing any good quality footage of a Green Day show is good, but I don't feel the selection of songs and the particular show they picked sums up the shows on that tour very well, and it and sacrifices being able to properly watch the band members perform in favour of making sure things seem energetic by cutting the camera around so much it gives you a headache. So I prefer the BIAB DVD. Plus BIAB is more like a full documentary with all the interviews etc than just a video of a show so it'd be pretty difficult for it to beat it anyway. AAF does have the hilarious bit in the intro where Billie's head changes to the bunny head as a big plus though

My absolute favourite thing about it is the name, which originated on GDC! After fans held up "thank you" signs during Good Riddance at a show someone joked on here that people should hold up "awesome as fuck" signs instead. Then some people did it, and the band noticed and were so amused they tweeted about it. And then named their live album after it :woot:. Coolest way of naming a live album ever! And so fitting for a band whose live show is all about breaking down the barrier between band and crowd and having fun. Can't let this thread exist without that story mentioned!

That's what really sells AAF for me, and the track from the AZ show. Which I didn't attend, but it's still nice to see.
