The Disappearing Boy Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 The production budget on BIAB was fucking insane (helicopters flying around and hiring Sam Bayer to produce the whole thing). It's truly a fucking great concert DVD. I really hope they do it again on the next tour. I'd forgotten about the helicopters actually. And as much as Sam Bayer came across as a bit of a prick, the work he did with BIAB was incredible; from the camera movements, to the black and white bits, to the editing, it just added so much atmosphere to the whole experience. And then the sound - the whole band is on top form and it's just so loud. The guitar is brilliant and I love Jason White's guitar sound. The only problem is that the bass is a bit low in the mix. BIAB was the first Green Day thing I ever got, so I might be a bit biased! Oh yeah, Awesome as Fuck - should probably say something about that too! I remember really liking the performances of My Generation and Burnout on the DVD, and it is definitely fantastic to have new audios of old songs.
Mykee Mexx Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Oh I like BIAB as well but if I want to watch a concert as a concert I'd pick AAF Okay, in that way I agree.
UNICORN VOMIT Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Definitely SHE as it was recorded at brisbane my concert oh & Liam's
Mykee Mexx Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Funny, "She" for me is one of the most boring songs, be it live or studio.
UNICORN VOMIT Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Funny, "She" for me is one of the most boring songs, be it live or studio. But if you listen carefully you can hear me singing
21guns&novacaine Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Is a piece of shit. I wish that this never were released. But it's awesome, how can you be a GD fan when you can't even at least respect what they release? Not everything they realeased will be a bed of roses
StuckWithDom Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I prefer the DVD on bullet in a bible, and prefer the cd to awesome as fuck because it has the older tracks like christie rd, JAR, who wrote Holden caulfield. Also the cd has she which was from an Australian show
Makingyourmascarableed Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 "Who Wrote Holden Caulfield?", "Christie Road", and "Letterbomb" are my favorite songs from Awesome as Fuck. I can't believe it's three years already. I remember getting it for Easter along with Panic!'s Vices and Virtues haha. But I still enjoy it to this day.
Anaïs. Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Funny, "She" for me is one of the most boring songs, be it live or studio. BUT THE BASS!!!!! But it's awesome, how can you be a GD fan when you can't even at least respect what they release? Not everything they realeased will be a bed of roses I like AAF, but that's a ridiculous position to take. You can be a fan and still question choices the band made.
Mykee Mexx Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 BUT THE BASS!!!!! I can almost always find something at least accectable in GD´s songs... but this time... nothing helps... But if you listen carefully you can hear me singing Wut? Did I miss something important?
Spike Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I like AAF, but that's a ridiculous position to take. You can be a fan and still question choices the band made. I'd go as far as to argue that it'd be bad to not to question anything, too. In my opinion it can only make one's love for a band greater if you can acknowledge that not everything they do is perfect and still have them be your favourite band. And yeah, the bass on She is absolutely epic.
TommyGun Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 i prefer the Dvd instead of the cd since i don't really like it's sound , though it is not bad the dvd is just awesome as fuck, especially the static age and viva la gloria
Hedwig Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Whaaat three years. Can't decide whether it feels like ages ago or yesterday I'm going to stand by AAF album > BIAB album but BIAB dvd > AAF dvd. Mostly because nothing peculiar happens in AAF so I get a bit bored by watching it, but it has a bigger variety of songs than BIAB so it's more fun to listen to. whoa
green day is Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 The CD is god-tier, but the DVD was disappointing. BIAB is the opposite, though, so that's cool.
UNICORN VOMIT Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I can almost always find something at least accectable in GD´s songs... but this time... nothing helps... Wut? Did I miss something important? I said the song was recorded at the brisbane concert I was at so sentimental reasons that is my fav.
Mykee Mexx Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I said the song was recorded at the brisbane concert I was at so sentimental reasons that is my fav. Oh, I see... yes, sure, then it´s the best!
localinsomniac Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Not everything they realeased will be a bed of roses Or a pleasure cruise On a related note, these releases deserved a better tracklist. Maybe they couldn't get the rights for We Are the Champions?
WhiteTim Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Or a pleasure cruise On a related note, these releases deserved a better tracklist. Maybe they couldn't get the rights for We Are the Champions? With Queen and paying/clearing songs are tricky sometimes they are reasonable fees sometimes not maybe Reprise felt the price for the clearance wasn't worth it
Guest Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 yeah it feels like this has been out for years now!! i didn't buy it until like a year ago mind, only watched it once, not a big fan of it tbh. much prefer BIAB. but it's got the older songs which instantly makes it worth while.
OhTheGuilt. Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Got a train that morning to go get "AAF".Good times. Anyway I love It, and I can't really say what I like better.. but these days I find It easier to pick "AAF" over "BIAB".Maybe because I grew a bit sick of "American Idiot".Favourite track? Geek Stink Breath.
Todd Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 The only thing I hate about this album is the DVD is cut, and they cut out the intro to Going to Pasalacqua. Like, why would they cut out the intro?
DirtyRottenForgotten Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I prefer this album over Bullet In A Bible. This is actually one of my favorite Green Day releases in general. The song selection for the album is incredible and I was at the show that the Christie Road iTunes bonus track was recorded at and that makes me love that recording even more.
Ritz Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Awesome as Fuck is great but BIAB is greater. I like the backstage insights in BIAB. Favourite track for me would be Christie Road. I absolutely love the song!
