by the way guys. the june 1st can just be a placeholder. they do this all the time for games, and then when the store -gamestop, best buy- realizes its not coming out OR when the distributors/makers decide for any reason they dont want it released, they'll push it back. it happens all the time. id love a june release date, but i wont be surprised if its pushed back

And thus was the rumor born. We contacted Harmonix for comment, and received the following response.

"While we have not made any official announcements regarding Jimi Hendrix and Rock Band, we are excited to say that we are in discussions to bring more of his music to our platform. Stay tuned."

But that could mean anything! More music could certainly mean a standalone game release, right?

Not in this case. The Harmonix / MTV rep I spoke to told me in no uncertain terms that they are not doing a standalone game.

And thus the rumor died.

Still, more Jimi in Rock Band could be on the way, and that's something, right?

I wouldnt. It doesnt take very long to make music games, although I doubt it would be as early as June 1st. Im guessing somewhere in between then and October.

whats not the point? that article is just saying once green day:rock band is released, another game is expected to be announced. rumors and speculation are that its going to be rock band 3 with the added stuff that green day :rock band is gonna have and the lego rock band features. and as for release dates, they can ALWAYS be pushed back months or even a years worth of time. look at bioshock and tons of other games
