solongfromthestars Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 There was uproar on here a few months ago when someone was adamant that Sweet 16 was better than JOS. I hope that was because they like the concept rather than that they actually think it's better musically or lyrically. I love the trilogy but that's one of the songs on it I really don't like. Quote
Hermione Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I think it was probably just that they like it more I love the lyrics of See The Light, and along with the bit from the start of 21st CB that's repeated they make it a really fitting end to the album, but musically it otherwise probably is one of the least interesting songs on there. Plus every time he goes "I-I-I...I just wanna see the light" I imagine he's going to go "I-I-I...wanna rock and roll all night" instead which doesn't help. 3 Quote
Spike Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Yeah, I really like See The Light. I think it's pretty underrated. The chorus sounds like I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight by Cutting Crew, which is a bit of a curveball Quote

AlissaGoesRAWR Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 It also sounds like "You Shook Me All Night Long" ... 1 Quote
captain peroxide Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I hope you guys realize how much you're all blowing my mind, and how many mashups you're making me want to do. 2 Quote

I saw it on a YouTube video once. Oddly enough, You Shook Me All Night Long is one of my fave songs ever, yet I still despise See The Light. 1 Quote

Laura! Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Did you guys know that Boulevard of Broken Dreams is shamelessly ripped off of Wonderwall? I've also heard that Brain Stew's chords are very similar to a Chicago song. Quote

Popular Post Z J Posted May 12, 2015 Popular Post Posted May 12, 2015 *shakes off dust* ah, haven't been here in a bit. Misery is the coolest fucking song ever, but it took me a while to warm up to it. I'm very curious to see where their sound goes next. Something along the lines of Nimrod/Warning seems most logical, because they may want to experiment a bit more after spewing out more pop-rock in 3 albums than the rest of their catalog combined. I wouldn't complain about more pop-punk, but the production would have to be better. I want to hear distorted guitars and Billie's signature tone if they're going to do pop-punk. 6 Quote

AlissaGoesRAWR Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 So, he can be blond while he is doing it? As long as he's sweaty and covered in smudged eyeliner, that's fine with me. I'll compromise. 1 Quote

Haushinka! Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 100% agree with this: the production would have to be better. I want to hear distorted guitars and Billie's signature tone if they're going to do pop-punk. What Green Day lacked in the Trilogy, in my opinion, was their "edge." Even in Warning, where they had more upbeat songs like Waiting and Minority, or experimental tracks like Blood, Sex, and Booze or Misery, they still had that punchy tone that I associate with the signature Green Day sound. (Maybe it's the distorted guitars?) Many of the Trilogy tracks were a bit too heavy on the pop side of pop punk for my taste. I'm feeling optimistic for their next album though. Especially since Billie said he wants to take his time with it. 1 Quote
