Spike Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 Lil Wayne and Billie would get along great, they like to rhyme the same words in the same verse. "I might go crazy on these niggers, I don't give a motherfuck, Run up in a nigga house and shoot his grandmother up what, What I don't give a motherfuck get ya baby kidnapped and ya baby-mother fucked" the rhyme scheme of which is obviously comparable to this: "I'll never turn back time Forgetting you, but not the time." I hate it when people don't give a motherfuck and run up in a nigga house and shoot my grandmother I really relate to these lyrics. 4 Quote

Libertine Angel Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 On the Dookie discussion, for me the order goes: Basket Case, Longview, Welcome to Paradise, When I Come Around, She, Burnout, Chump, Having a Blast, Emenius Sleepus, Sassafras Roots, FOD, In The End, Coming Clean, Pulling Teeth. Quote

For me: WICA, She, Longview, Pulling Teeth, Having a Blast, Sassafras Roots, Welcome to Paradise, Basket Case (only because it is so over played), Chump, Coming Clean, Burnout, FOD, In the End Yeah, I still like it but just not as much as the others. It has grown on me over time, but it's still not quite as good for me. And Basket Case being overplayed doesn't really bother me - I once listened to Dookie every day for about a month and it was still just as great every time. 1 Quote

I don't have a problem listening to an album over and over again, because I want too. I actually work out every day to Awesome as Fuck, simply because I get a better work out. When I go on long car rides, its Bullet in A bible. But, if you hear GD on the radio, 8 times out of 10 its Basket CAse. They have 11 studio albums and countless hits, I think they can find another song to play from time to time. 1 Quote

Yeah, I see what you mean, I just manage to avoid that by not listening to the radio (I used to, but the only decent station I found started playing the same few songs over and over again every day and got a really annoying host). 1 Quote

AlissaGoesRAWR Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Is it just me or does this sound like someone is unhappy with the time of their life at the moment of writing the lyrics for this? When it first came out the album, American Idiot, sounded like a cry for help. 21st Century Breakdown sounded like someone on the verge of giving up. The Trilogy sounded like someone full of complaints and an extreme lack of happiness. Someone needs hope, someone needs light and someone needs to know life. Um, no??? 4 Quote

I'll have to listen to it again and try to look for it, because I haven't noticed it either. And most of that order is understandable, but FOD ahead of Longview and Welcome to Paradise? Quote
Mayonaise Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Wanna see the most unpopular list probably ever? Burnout, Sassafras Roots, Coming Clean, Having a Blast, Welcome To Paradise, Chump, F.O.D., In the End, Emenius Sleepus, Basket Case, Longview, When I Come Around And no, not because any of the singles are overplayed. Z J Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Having A Blast and Pulling Teeth are starting to win me over. The harmonies are so  But it's still: WICA, She, Basket Case, Chump, Having A Blast, Longview, Burnout, Welcome To Paradise, Emenius Sleepus, Pulling Teeth, FOD, Coming Clean, Sassafras Roots, In The End. I like every song except In The End, essentially. Definitely my third favorite album. Quote
Mayonaise Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Wait, where are She and Pulling Teeth? Shit, I thought I included them. The first time I didn't included Having a Blast so I must have edited them out. They might make a Makeout Party remake while they're at it. Lil's enlightened insight into poetry could really make it perfect. Um, no??? They're not full of happiness, either. 1 Quote
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 They're not full of happiness, either. Yes, but to over analyze them to the point of assuming the band members are "unhappy with their lives" while writing them is just silly. Especially to assume American Idiot is a "cry for help" — it's an allegory of Billie's younger days, if anything — or 21CB is indicative of real-life "giving up." The band was on top of the world after American Idiot came out, so that interpretation of 21CB's intentions makes no sense to me. And we've already beaten the trilogy's proverbial dead horse to death. I know music often comes from an inspired place, and sometimes that warrants some reading between the lines, but people on this site have a tendency to over analyze to the extreme. 1 Quote

There's also the fact that the band have said the recording process of American Idiot was the most fun they've ever had. It's possible to write music full of large-scale displeasure with politics and the general state of the world and still be in a good place on a personal level. 1 Quote

Hermione Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Since eveyone's doing it (and Longview needs to be listed in its correct place): Longview, Pulling Teeth, Having A Blast, Emenius Sleepus, Chump, Sassafras Roots, Burnout, Coming Clean, She, Basket Case, FOD, In The End, When I Come Around, Welcome To Paradise The songs are all so good there's barely any difference between most of them though Quote
