Chin for a Day Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 You want to talk unpopular, I like Nightlife. As far as I know, there are only two of us that do. Quote

Jirachi Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I prefer the dookiefied version. meh, i dont think the lyrics fit with rock instrumentals imo. Thé original works ä bit better 1 Quote
Jax Teller Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Nightlife is good as it is but this is better than the original imo. 1 Quote
walking_c0ntradicti0n Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Nightlife is good as it is but this is better than the original imo. Hell fucking yes. 1 Quote
walking_c0ntradicti0n Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 "Nightlife" "good" stop those two words simply cannot go into the same sentence. "uptight" and "awesome" on the other hand 1 Quote

BetterThanAir Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I'm not sure if these would be 'unpopular' opinions, but I'll state them anyways: I think Billie Joe looks the best with black roots and the rest of his hair being blonde. I think Shenanigans has one of the best looking album covers. Little Boy Named Train never fails to make me laugh, because the lyrics are ridiculous. Quote

I think Shenanigans has one of the best looking album covers. Little Boy Named Train never fails to make me laugh, because the lyrics are ridiculous. Blonde Billie makes me think very bad thoughts. I think Little Boy Named Train is sad. He said in an interview that it was autobiographical. With all he's accomplished, he still feels lost. That is sad. Quote
BetterThanAir Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Where did you come from / where have you been / looks like you feel into the trash bin That is the exact point where let a smile appear on my face as I change the song. Blonde Billie makes me think very bad thoughts. I think Little Boy Named Train is sad. He said in an interview that it was autobiographical. With all he's accomplished, he still feels lost. That is sad. He must have been lost while writing the song. I'm sorry, but a topic like that would have made for such an amazing song. I feel like he blew the chance of a song with potential away. The lyrics seem nonsensical to me. The only two Green Day songs I dislike are Nightlife and Little Boy Named Train. Also, potentially an unpopular opinion, but I think Rest is one of the best songs on 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. 1 Quote

More about kids having freedom to get around - it's typical of the clash. Quote
Chin for a Day Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 The use of train/ bus is a typical punk rock theme. More about kids having freedom to get around - it's typical of the clash. It may be a common theme but it doesn't mean he used it that way. Lines like: "I'm a rat inside a cage and I've got no destination" and I don't remember this one exactly but it was something like "I'm always lost give me directions and I'll still be lost" make me think that he feels lost. He did say in an interview that it was autobiographicalThat is the exact point where let a smile appear on my face as I change the song. He must have been lost while writing the song. I agree that he missed a chance with little boy named train. It should have been good but it's not. Nightlife is awesome. 1 Quote
BetterThanAir Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Nightlife is awesome. He sounds like a higher pitched, Dubstep-esque, autotuned version of a drunken Jack Sparrow. And Lady Cobra just didn't cut it for me. I'm glad you enjoyed it, though. 2 Quote
Certified Nimrod Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 It further encourages me to propose the theory that the song is about drugs and has nothing to do with love. He's having cold turkey and growing desperate, runs around his house looking for cocaine. Holy crap that's a fantastic theory. To be honest I hate the album version of The Forgotten even more having heard how awesome Alyssa's version is Link pls Also is it just me or is Misery an incredibly fun song, both lyrically and otherwise, despite its dark content? "It's just you" - Lady Cobra I think Billie Joe looks the best with black roots and the rest of his hair being blonde. YES. I love his hair so much when it's like that. Also, potentially an unpopular opinion, but I think Rest is one of the best songs on 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. You. Out. Now. Quote
