Bastard of 1969 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 You know, this BIAB thing is true. There is more emotion in live versions and it's amazing. I don't like pitch perfect. Other than that, White Stripes's songs aren't really PERFECT OMG THEY SUK NOW BALS CUZ THEY NOT PERF, but there is many other thing they do, new experimental version of the song, rhythm changing, intonation changing, and it's 80-95% more better than studio versions. Depends on the song thou. Quote
Guest Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 I think the emotion Billie puts in to the song makes it better. I haven't listened to BIAB in almost a decade at this point and literally all I remember are Billie's dodgy vocals. It's subjective regardless. Quote

It's subjective regardless. Of course it's subjective. Yeah the vocals are dodgy because he is basically crying throughout the whole song. 1 Quote
Libertine Angel Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Sassafras Roots is the weakest for me. As Tom's not here to do it, I'll say so--go listen to the Reading 2004 version. Blows BIAB out of the water. It's definitely not the best song on it, but I still prefer it over Pulling Teeth - there's something in the vocals on Pulling Teeth that just sounds a bit off. And while that was indeed awesome, I'm afraid it doesn't top BIAB for me. Quote

Popular Post Z J Posted January 1, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 1, 2015 Since we're on the topic of Dookie, I think Having a Blast is an incredibly written song. I never realized what it was about but now that I do the lyrics really are powerful. I do wonder if the song was at all controversial upon release 5 Quote

The Platypus! Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 I used to think it was called kindergarden and it was a garden full of kinder eggs. 3 Quote

Ever wonder why literally every country in Europe mocks America's education system? Well there's a start How else are kindergarteners supposed to protect themselves from home invasions? You must be a liberal Nonsense, the home invaders would choke upon the delicious but terrifyingly dangerous Kinder Eggs. Quote

Chin for a Day Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 On When September Ends, in BIAB he was crying through it and it was at the end of the show. If a singer is perfect at the end of the show I start to think they are lip syncing. 1 Quote
The Disappearing Boy Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Unpopular opinion: Dirty Rotten Bastards, while it is mostly bullshit, is fun and well-written bullshit.Quite surprised no-one's picked up on this tbh Musically, the first half is damn good, second half is crap. Lyrics are a bit up and down. Another example of how Green Day completely did away with their quality control on the Trilogy, in my opinion. Ever wonder why literally every country in Europe mocks America's education system? Well there's a start In fairness, Germany, Italy and (I think Austria) for a start start school age 6. It looks like the UK (and Ireland too I guess) are way earlier than everyone else, maybe? Quote

I actually think it works really well at the end of the Trilogy (and should've replaced The Forgotten, in my opinion) - it's an over-the-top, vaguely nonsensical explosion of Green Day just being themselves, and is in fact descriptive of the Trilogy ("carried away, carried away, carried awaaaay"). Popular Post Todd Posted January 2, 2015 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2015 See You Tonight > Brutal Love -awaits the criticism- Go away Billie doing vocals and harmonies really pisses me off. I hate it. Even on No One Knows at the end where Billie sings both parts it kinda ruins the song for me. Outside of the studio you can't sing two parts at once. 5 Quote
