WhiteTim Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Putting together a snippet tape of some beats I've made recently got one that is a perfect intro for an album the full track is just 2 mins and 11 secs but making a 30 or even 60 sec clip does it no justice at all...

I must hear WhiteTim music.
fromdecimateddreams Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 So I found out last week that apparently I still have one of the school's tenor saxes signed out to me from back when I borrowed one for the summer last year. So basically I've been able to play this thing and take it home and have freedom to use it whenever I wanted for the past six months and never knew it. Needless to say, I'll be bringing it home tomorrow and playing the shit out of it. Tenor sax is the best sax.
green day is Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Tenor sax is the best sax. Wrong. Contrabass sax is best sax.
WhiteTim Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Wrong. Contrabass sax is best sax. Wrong again no sax is the best sax (Just joking I like the sax as long as Kenny G isn't behind it)
Spike Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 (Just joking I like the sax as long as Kenny G isn't behind it) Sax is great. Even better when this man was behind one.
WhiteTim Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Sax is great. Even better when this man was behind one. He was great for sure!
fromdecimateddreams Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 We don't speak of Kenny G. On the subject of obnoxiously large saxes though, I present to you this... monstrous thing, the subcontrabass (aka the "tubax", apparently). like what the fuck. why is that even necessary.
Spike Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 why is that even necessary. Dubstep jazz, maybe?
JackInABox86 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 You know what? Peanuts make bad guitar picks. Who would've thought

WhiteTim Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 So as of today I'm officially a silent co owner of a studio (I say silent as I won't be operating it) in the current state it was used as a voice over studio Has two rooms 2 offices and a place for visitors we are going to make the 2 rooms into one that'll focus on bands and turn the visitor lounge into a smaller studio which will be good use for pre production and music that doesn't require much room Hopefully by summer it'll be completely finished
Travis. Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I learned this one from Billie if you want to get a more "muddy" tone put mud on it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8UaRQYq_Es
JOE THE X-KID Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Does anyone have really bad stage fright? I've been playing guitar for 8 years and am trying to start a band but I've never played infront about more then 10 people. The thought of getting on stage absolutely terrifies me but i want to do it, and that's what's frustrating.

The thought of getting on stage absolutely terrifies me but i want to do it, and that's what's frustrating. I used to. I actually find it a lot worse to play in front of smaller audiences. I've played in front of audiences from 250-1000 and they've all been fine, but when it's more intimate/personal in front of a crowd of 20 or 30 it can be terrifying. You just have to be 1000% confident in playing the songs, because if you can appear confident on stage you'll get a better response from the audience, and that'll make you feel more confident, and it becomes self-perpetuating. I always used to feel embarrassed playing in front of people, but one night I just thought "fuck it" and put on more of a show, it was the best gig I'd ever played to that point and after that my stage fright was a lot less prevalent. You just have to remember that you're doing it for the love of it, and as soon as it becomes something seriously stressful you're losing sight of why you're doing it in the first place.

I guess you're right, I'm actually thinking of playing at a few open mic nights just to gain a bit of experience and build up my confidence
Backyard Skulls Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Got my first concert with our new conductor tonight. It should go well as long as the drummer doesn't mess up his entries like last time we were playing music from polar express and he had 6 bars on his own, completely missed it which caused everyone else to mess up! We're playing music from les mis though which is
WhiteTim Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Picture of the one room set up at the studio Analog synths set up
Spike Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 I guess you're right, I'm actually thinking of playing at a few open mic nights just to gain a bit of experience and build up my confidence Yeah, that should definitely help. It worked wonders for me anyway, since open mics often have a really supportive atmosphere (if you find a good one, anyway). I used to play open mics a lot in between "proper" gigs in order to acclimatise to playing in front of an audience, and it did improve my experience of the full band gigs.
Certified Nimrod Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I wish that I could sing so that I could do open mics.
Spike Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 I wish that I could sing so that I could do open mics. Trust me, most people who do open mics CANNOT sing. Around here, at least.
