inthehallwaynow Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Playing on old drum heads cause you can't afford new ones is such a bummer
Libertine Angel Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Barre chords are a pain in my ass... I thought so too, but I've improved a fair amount with practice. I'm still not very good, but I'm not as utterly shite as I was.

Yeah, I'll start getting better soon. I've been practicing a shitload lately and I've only had my guitar for about 6 months. I hope I improve!

I'm sure you will, 6 months isn't all that long and more practice always helps (I've had mine for ages, but that's balanced out by the fact that I don't play much).
Chin for a Day Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Barre chords are a pain in my ass... They are actually not bad once you get used to them. It took me awhile but now I'm pretty comfortable with them. I find it easier to transition with barre chords now. My instructor just started me working on the CAGED method. That is kicking my ass, my fingers need to be 10 inches longer. Getting a new guitar for my birthday! I picked out three, we will see which one hubby goes with.
JackInABox86 Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Barre chords are difficult if you're playing on a badly set up guitar or with very high string gauges On another note, check out my latest track https://soundcloud.com/jackinabox-sullivan/js-productions-dont-you-think-so-ft-king
Spike Posted May 28, 2015 Author Posted May 28, 2015 Audition tomorrow I'm fairly confident, I've got all the songs down (three originals and three covers) and judging by the chat we've had online I get on with the other guys. Really looking forward to playing in a band again, whatever happens.

I could probably cut cheese with it

Clean Cut Asshole Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Sometimes I honestly wonder if I should even bother trying to get my band going. Like, I don't have a bassist, nobody in this area is interested in doing it and if they would be they're already in their own bands. There's some I've had in mind for a while but I don't know if he wants to do it. IDK, I just feel like it's completely pointless.
bollard_11 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Jam session Friday didn't happen. The drummer hurt his back in the gym on Thursday trying to organise for next week but schedules arent quite matching up!
Spike Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 Was meant to be having another audition tomorrow but after the band went as far as letting me know a time and the town their rehearsal space is in, they haven't got back to me since.
bollard_11 Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Had first jam session today with a guy from college and 2 of his friends. Went really well. Guitar and pedalboard sounded so good together! After some messing about with a few covers, we decided to say fuck it and wrote something. I now have a hd video of our first track with vocals and guitar solo done (might change though). So there's a video a song and a band name after one session. Guess this is happening!
Spike Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 I just arranged the fuck out of a string section. Feels good.
Laetitia Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I wish that I could play guitar or bass, but the only instruments that I've ever studied are piano and flute. It'd be nice to have a go at playing some GD tunes on guitar, because most sound absolutely crappy on flute.
bollard_11 Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Anyone ever get the feeling when you are trying to write something that you have heard it somewhere before? Getting back to writing my own riffs but every time I listen back, i think I've heard it somewhere already. Paranoia is a terrible thing!

It was a great feeling when I found out they were original ideas because they just wrote themselves after that.

Libertine Angel Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 My dad decided to take a picture of my guitar with the amps I've been using because he thought it looked cool. He was right.
Spike Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 My dad decided to take a picture of my guitar with the amps I've been using because he thought it looked cool. He was right. That looks awesome. Love the Fender amp, I've got a similar, older one. '68 Twin Reverb to be precise, but it's knackered.

The cabinet's Fender, but my dad actually designed his own amp to put in it - it's based off the Deluxe Reverb schem, I can't remember exactly what's different about it but it's loud as fuck.
WhiteTim Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 My birthday present finally came. Awesome and that's my favorite headstock too
Certified Nimrod Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 First off, this site looks really weird. Also, does anyone know anything about the drum set brand ddrums? My friend has a set that he wants to sell and it looks nice, but I can't find anything about it online.
