We just thought he got sick in Italy and was getting better. actually that's what I thought and always think, that it was nothing to do with his addiction... well

Oh, I don't have medical proof of anything, nor do I want to speculate about that as it's none of my business. I just thought it was related to his addiction problems as the band said there were a lot of health scares and close calls in the weeks leading up to iHeart Radio. It doesn't matter. He was sick and he got better in every sense of the word.
laurie_black Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I think that if his illness and stay in hospital had been directly related to his addiction, this would have served as a far more urgent wake up call than iHeart and he would have gone into rehab then, especially considering that he had apparently already agreed with his manager to eventually do that anyway. Apart from that nobody ever brought that incident up again when asked about whether they saw any warning signs before iHeart and it surely would have been a really big one if it had had something to do with it. But fortunately that is in the past now anyway. I hope we will be able to say the same about Brittney rather sooner than later, too, that she will be well again and that she'll get as quickly through this as possible!

Iva Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Oh, ok, didn't realize Mike and Britt were going to be THAT open about this... ya know, cuz I think a lot of people would want to keep very private and focus inward during this time. Like think about Billie in rehab, how few pictures we got of him physically during that time, and how there were zero pictures of him actually going THROUGH treatment or anything like that. Obviously circumstances are different but I always imagined it'd be the same process of sharing with this. Maybe it's just me, but for me personally it's TMI, not that I'm judging them for sharing, it is a brave thing and probably coping mechanism for them. But I just find it a little awkward to post pictures about medical things. I know a nose bleed is totally no big deal, but given the circumstances it's a little... I don't know, uncomfortable. For me. It just opens the door like to photos of her going through treatment and I know people take photos of themselves while they are battling cancer but I always found it a little attention seeking pity-party. I'm not saying Britt and Mike are doing that AT ALL, they are obviously just being total badass motherfuckers about the whole thing, but photos of physical deterioration are just a lot for anyone to deal with. It depends on how one deals with it. I wrote a blog entry depicting death from lung cancer (err...suffocation) in 2010, because that was how my vent worked. Cancer in family changes a person, forever.
