They have been the "it" band for the teeny bopper age for over a year now. They have cited GD as one of their major influences.

Thing 2 is a big fan and because they cited GD as an influence, she listened to GD and has become a huge fan. Of course she would not listen to GD because of me but because of 5SOS.

No, I'm not...sorry if it sounded like that, I didn't mean you. Many Green Day fans just seem to be angry at them for citing/covering Green Day and their fans for comparing the bands.edit: good for her!
