Not sure about the pro-gun fans, but Americans of all stripes get weird on that issue. The fans who are getting really pissed off seem to be Americans (not that nationality matters) because potential gun control changes affected them directly hence they went batshit as did the flag post Billie took down and this post there are a bunch of homophobes going batshit because gays are destroying America and their flag. Hell someone on twitter even posted that Sara's uncle (the guy Tre posted about a few times as "uncle Phil") ranted at Billie to leave the country "go back to wherever you came from" about the gun control thing. People are disgusting and the fact that they think they can abuse people so openly is so fucked. I'm extra proud of Billie that he keeps sharing his views and won't back down. I hope he fucks with these assholes when he releases the next album. Rainbow flag front cover lol.

Unbelievable. The number of homophobes and republicans among BJ's followers surprises me, too. I suppose they aren't die-hard fans - perhaps they're people who like him enough to follow him (or just know him. some people follow celebrities of all kinds.), but don't care much about his views, unless he posts about them regularly. Also, many people are able to enjoy the music, but disagree with band's view's. Recently, I saw a Christian forum on which a guy claimed he'd "punch them in the face for being blasphemous, despite being a fan". There are more such fans than we think. This forum is full of liberals, feminists and LGBT allies. That's in itself a proof that GDCers aren't a typical sample of population. I love that he gives us good topics to discuss (and get butthurt about).

I agree with you that most of the hate comments left on IG and Facebook are by casual fans etc but still it bothers me that they even listened to any GD... with those attitudes I'm thinking there must be some suitable white power style metal bands around that they would prefer. Hate filled lyrics and all that good stuff.
