Eva Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 God, that's incredible. I've always wanted to learn how to play slap bass but it kind of intimidates me so I've never really given it a try.
Guest Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 my ex is amazing at bass, his biggest influence is Flea, and he used to spend hours a day practising his slap technique, and jesus it was awesome to watch. he's been in magazines for having such amazing skills, plus his youtube channel (last i sawa) was always going crazy with likes/comments. i should just befriend him again to get him to teach me
James! Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Cant play guitar never played bass is it something that can be picked up and kind of teach your sake fven if you have no musical talent
Spike Posted September 7, 2014 Author Posted September 7, 2014 Finally found the bass tone I want to use forever. With new strings this would sound insane. https://soundcloud.com/tomjohnstonemusic/bass-tone
Certified Nimrod Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Can someone recommend me a good cheap bass amp? I'm talking $50 or less. I finally got the neck on the bass I've had forever adjusted so it can actually be played. Also, a guy around my age saw me leaving the store with it and asked if I was in a band. I better learn to play quickly.

Spike Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 For real? What's so great about them? Yeah! I've been looking into getting the Rumble 100 for a while but I can't afford it. For the money they're great. They've got a really nice tone and are very versatile, durable and lightweight.
Spike Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 So here's my new baby. First impressions are that playability wise it has to be the best bass I've ever had, and I can't believe how light it is. I'm calling her Jabberwocky.

It really is fucking awesome, I'm honestly blown away especially for what their retail value is. Well I named it Jabberwocky after my failed approximation of Jadwiga so I guess it's come full circle in a way!

Certified Nimrod Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I asked my guitar teacher to teach me some bass and we started today. Here's my bass btw. It's a Johnson by Axl. I guess they're lower-end, but I can't find many online to be sure.

Certified Nimrod Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 That looks so nice! Get a black scratchplate for it and it'll be perfect. What were you learning today? Thank you! Why a black one? He said that I could use a pick or my fingers to play. He said it just depends on the song which he will use. We ran through some scales, so I could get a feel for the thicker neck and strings. He also gave me a couple things to look up.

I just love what that colour combination looks like, that's all. Personal preference. Yeah that makes sense. I take it he taught you the major scale? In which case, play it in A and that's Warning.
