I think when people say a certain song is bad lyrically, they usually mean there are 1 or 2 lines in the song or in one verse that they don't like and then they ignore the rest of the lyrics. There are lyrics that are pretty bad or generic, but I mean it's no worse than what I'd expect from a trilogy of albums Btw in my original comment, I accidentally said that most of the lyrics are meaningless filler when I meant to say that people think most of the lyrics are meaningless filler. I edited my original comment How do any of us know what other people think? We can only truly know what we ourselves think… 1 Quote
Slave To The Network Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Misery is such a strange song, but Billie's vocals on it are just phenomenal and that's what makes it for me. Otherwise I wouldn't give it a second thought. Oh, and unrelated, I helped out a guy today at work who's name was Kevin Preston. 2 2 Quote
dreamykatie Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Misery is seriously my 2nd or 3rd favorite off of Warning because it's so strange! And you're right, Billie's vocals are amazing on it. Such a shame we'll never hear it live because of what makes it so unique! 1 Quote

I love that like Homecoming it’s a song that they all wrote together it’s a big part of what makes those songs so unusual sounding and special 7 Quote

That's incredible! I knew about Homecoming and I think it's such an underrated gem, it's so cool to know that's the case with Misery too! Makes me hope we'll get a song like that off of 1972. 5 Quote

Popular Post Slave To The Network Posted April 30, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 30, 2022 I was just listening to Homecoming today and marveling at what a fucking masterpiece of a song it is! I so wish they would play it live again. 8 1 Quote
That Dude Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 Just finished the Redundant Podcast on Bullet in a Bible and it's a lot of fun! Those guys are all about the Idiot era and had a lot of praise for it. I need to revisit it, maybe that's something me and my son can do here soon. Quote
Rumpelstiltskin2000 Posted April 30, 2022 Posted April 30, 2022 I never realised the musical soundtrack vinyl was worth much. I see it sells from between £113-£220! One went yesterday for £165! 1 3 Quote
That Dude Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Redundant Podcast actually liked Father of All, I can't believe it. But they absolutely hated the musical and Shenanigans, oooph. Quote
Popular Post Flashback Posted May 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted May 3, 2022 Is it just me or is Green Day recently headlining more festivals than they used to? Maybe people started recognizing again how great they are live 😄 5 Quote

Personally I'd say it's possibly Crush but what do I know?) 6 Quote

I think because there are so many songs & lyrics on these albums that people think most of them are just meaningless filler but there's definitely interesting stuff in there that you won't notice if you're not really paying attention. Not to say the trilogy is a lyrical masterpiece, obviously it's not. But because there are so many lyrics there and there are some lyrics that are just... bad, a lot of people assume that all of it is bad BM Excellent is the greatest line Billie Joe ever wrote. 1 Quote
HoneyEmerald Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 If being a singer in public is only to cover up the screams of people in the back room, I'm not sure I want anything to do with it. I really hope that Green Day isn't involved with that shit. Quote
Zebahar Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Here comes the shock is a song I listen to almost every day. I don't love the lyrics, but I love the energy of the music. I feel like if the lyrics were a little better (less use of the word "baby"), and it had a chorus that wasn't just repeating the title of the song, it could have been a solid song 2 Quote
