Random Green Day Thoughts

Green Day has played a huge role in my life. Been a fan since 2010. Sadly I have to admit that I know every beat and every lyric of every song that I’m so bored out of Green Day. Especially with albums like foam they’ve really just lost it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they quit at this point. They don’t seem to enjoy or care about quality stuff anymore. Gd is so irrelevant right now and just doesn’t hold up to its legacy.

"I wanted to learn how to play guitar, but my hands were a little too small." 🤣❤️

It does not get cuter than this video. Also, Tre looks like absolute dessert here. 🔥

What do you think of The Network album? It's literally the same people so I think even if you're not a fan of FOAM there's hope. I wouldn't write them off based on one 10 song album and a random song that's probably an outtake from it anyway though. Also if the tour hadn't been cancelled due to covid they would've been killing it live all year which might've given things a more positive perspective. Just my thoughts on it.

I like the new network album. Theory of reality asphyxia are the cherry on the pie. This tour was supposed to be my first ever Green Day concert but got cancelled due to this stupid virus. I just wish Billie became the same young and reckless guys who inspires people. I just think this covid has been testing people’s mentality and don’t think Green Day has passed it. Here comes the shock was a big let down. I like that you’re staying positive and hope to god the boys will be back soon with some new killer sound. I really need them now.

Yeah everything being cancelled has put a damper on things. I'm sure they will tour again as soon as possible though so hopefully you'll get to see them. Here Comes the Shock is probably a leftover from FOAM and picked because it's catchy etc for the NHL promotion rather than meant to be their greatest work. The Network album is awesome and they're always awesome when playing live so I'm sure there's more good stuff yet to come.

Even if this is it and they’re at the stage of their career when they release b-sides and forget lyrics, it’s okay. They’ve had a great career.

 I’m not ready either, but I won’t be mad at them if it turns out that way

You'll have to put Billie in a coffin before you bury him. That's the only way he's leaving Green Day. :P

Had my vaccine today at our brand new, not yet been used for purpose concert venue!  Had to come out past the dressing rooms, took a quick peak just in case I needed to know what they look like in the future ..... wishful thinking but hey 🧐

I'm getting my first shot next week... but it'll be at a Safeway pharmacy.  Definitely not as exciting a location. 😅
Still, I don't think I've ever been this excited to get vaccinated in my entire life.

I wonder if the boys will start playing little shows as The Coverups or something once they're vaccinated. That would be really cool. I just want to see them play live again - in any format.

I know right? I normally have anxiety with anything medical related but I’m ridiculously excited to finally get going on this. I’m picking my daughter up from college in May and I’ll be fully vaccinated by then 🥳

I don’t know when shows will be able to resume but it feels like we’re turning a corner at least.

This is also the first time I’m jealous of other people getting a medical procedure done

Me too LOL! How is everyone eligible so soon. I won't even be able to register until the middle of April and the appointment will probably be a few weeks after that.

I lucked into it because my County health dept just opened up a new eligibility window and a few new mass vaccination sites and my city paper posted about it first on Facebook so if you were quick there were plenty of appointments.  Otoh, my pharmacies have nothing and I hear other areas where people are getting them easily at pharmacies. It totally varies. I thought I wasn’t going to find an appointment for a month or more and then suddenly it was “How’s this Monday?” It can happen like that.

But the (sort of) good news is I think we’re soon going to reach a tipping point where there is more supply than demand and then everyone who wants it can easily get it and the next challenge is convincing more people to get it.

Age 🤣🤣 Seriously, I am not often impressed with how our gov run things but in this case it’s really impressive.  We get a letter giving about a weeks notice of your appointment, you can change it if you need to, you turn up, join the Florida theme park like queue at a big conference/concert venue and your out in about an hour.  There are rows and rows of lines of cubicles and we are vaccinating really big numbers, for a small country.  Also, thankfully, the uptake is huge and there was almost a part atmosphere whenI went.

Wait, the government reaches out to you and makes an appointment for you? Here you have to pay attention to when your age group is eligible and then call/go online and schedule your own appointment (which can be a very tedious process).

Yeah when there's a checkup or screening or vaccine etc that you're automatically entitled to on the NHS (eg a cervical screening test for women over 25 every 3 years or the flu vaccine for older people in winter) they contact you to invite you to book an appointment for it, so it goes along with what's normally expected that they let you know when you can come and get the covid vaccine. It's good because it means it's being given in order of most to least vulnerable people pretty consistently

Wow, I am jealous. No, no one here reaches out when it is your turn. You have to do everything. You are lucky if you see the contact info on TV; otherwise you have to try to track it down on your state health department website. A huge barrier for people without tech access.

Well, I say the gov, but the gov has the NHS working with our GP practices and a new team to send us appointments, largely done by age group but if you have underlying health conditions that bumps you up into the age group above you.   There were four people from my street there with me, same GP practice.

That's because the USA is not a government run healthcare country.

And imagine the shit show it would be. They can barely agree on helping their own people with financial help. A whole $2,200 since March 2020 (for some).
