Random Green Day Thoughts

Stairway To Heaven is on radio and I say it again that one bow sound sounds so much like the one Troubled Times. I am BOTHERED. Normally I am able to accept when they borrow from other songs but this tiny thing makes me jump whenever I hear it.

Funnily enough, a Green Day song came right after it.

I just listened to it and it didn't remind me anything of Troubled Times  don't see what they could have borrowed from Stairway To Heaven!

However, that song made me immediately think (even though vaguely) of something quite different:

You may need to turn it up a little. (It's quite silent.) Somewhere near the end of Stairway, definitely before the last verse, you can hear a bow guitar sound and I just can't help it, it reminds me of the bow bit in TT. Not saying they must have borrowed it, but it sounds quite alike to me.

Oops, well I missed that... It isn't my favourite album you know (though it's in my top 5) I just think it's massively underrepresented in their setlist / current live shows. I guess it also unfairly gets way less attention and love than Dookie in general. Still, I love it, but it's not my fav.

Oh, you're talking about the part starting from 6:25 to 6:45? (Didn't go so far the first time )

It does sound similar especially to the background vocals in the chorus of Troubled Times.

Yes, I mean the guitar sound in 6:27, the "ta da da da", it's like what you can hear in the instrumental of TT after chorus. (We live in troubled times, ta da da da, you know what I mean haha).

I wasn't thinking of the backing vocals but I will take a look at them tomorrow, interesting point you make here!

The "ta da, da da" you're talking about in Troubled Times is the same I'm talking about  I thought it was background vocals because when they played it live, I'm pretty sure this "ta da, da da" consisted in vocals (Jeff's probably), but you seem to say me that it is originally done by the bow guitar? To me the bow guitar was something else on the album version, I'm confused

I was mostly worried about them for all the bad air they're breathing in but I was reading some stories this morning and now the fire has me freaked out for them too. It seems like it's sneaking up on some people and I heard that they're expecting all the different fires to merge at some point.

^ I agree :/ I hope they are staying safe during this and continue to do so. It is horrible what has been happening in Cali.
