Private Ale. Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 if the new album is just as good as Shenanigans that would be enough for me. Quote
UNICORN VOMIT Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 The good thing about waiting for new GD music is I have played my old collection. Last night I listened to MCR for the first time in a few years - even hubby was happy. Quote

RedundantIdiot Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I love 21st Century Breakdown, too. I want them to play 21 Guns during the next tour because the live performances of that song are always epic. As I said a few weeks ago in this thread, they should replace the overplayed Know Your Enemy with 21 Guns. Perhaps when they tour again they could just replace Know Your Enemy with 21 Guns. Quote

I like the verses on that song but I hate the low-fi production on it, and the chorus is cheesy as hell. it had potential to be a pretty good song haha Quote
Hermione Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I love Christian's Inferno, it's deliciously evil sounding and the contrast between the verses and chorus still amuses me to this day. Plus let's not forget this Worth having on the album for that alone . I also like how it goes from that to the totally sweet Last Night On Earth. 4 Quote

I read somewhere Lukie says bad things about the album and I instantly went ahead and listened to it in full. Even Christian's Inferno and See the Light. And I didn't find one thing worth cringing in that album. It is a great album, I like music, I like the strong guitars and the lyrics are just great. What's there not to like? Last Night on Earth would be a stand out song to me in this album. The beautiful arrangement, the vocals, the powerful bass and the sweet sappy lyrics! They get me everytime. What a beautiful composition. 3 Quote
WhiteTim Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I loved 21st the first time I heard it the day it was released I hadn't been into the group in years loved them since summer 94 but didn't care for AI with the exception of Boulevard didn't like the album at all (I had pre ordered the book edition from Amazon and my sons mother dog ate the AI book a few months later and didn't bother to get a replacement) but went to Target and bought 21st and was blown away by it I still listen to it regularly along with Insomniac (in 2011-2012 I later re listened to AI and kicked myself for not liking it in 2004 as it is an bad ass album escp JOS Letterbomb Whatshername and Homecoming) Quote

I remember listening to it on repeat the day it came out. Has anyone else noticed how Billie seems to play guitar with his elbow and shoulder, when pretty much everyone else uses wrist and fingers? It looks like he's attacking the guitar 2 Quote

Seen it mentioned in articles etc describing his playing quite a few times, it's very distinctive. His signature move . I guess it makes his playing as powerful as possible, and also has the effect of making his performances super energetic and awesome to watch. 4 Quote
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Playing guitar isn't wrist and fingers only - your hand would soon fall off that way When you want to use more power and play fast you need to incorporate the forearm. He has his guitars very low so he has to use his arm because of it too. 1 Quote

Agreed on the guitar low, that is his signature. 1 Quote

He often has to bend his wrist sideways and hunch to play palm muted parts. His guitar is so low he can barely reach there. 1 Quote
