21guns&novacaine Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I feel somewhat embarrassed that I'd never heard When it's Time, up until a few months ago, and I was just in amazement, and angry at myself that I'd missed it, so I listened to it on repeat for weeks. 1 Quote
XxXxXxXxX Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 (edited) Heres my opinion. I feel like this song has lots of potential and could be a lot more popular if it had a more authentic feel to it when recorded. Look at good riddance for example. The voice sounds unadulterated and genuine whereas in this song billie has sort of an echo effect on his voice. Im hoping that for their next album they cut out the whole "echo" or voice altering effects and just stick to raw natural sound. It sounds a lot better, and I think if they would have done it for this recording it could have been a huge hit. Edit: In my opinion I think the HLAHGA video sounds better than the recording. BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 It's reverb. Unlike the fans, Billie thinks reverb is rad, hence #revrad. It's safe to say he'll use it on the new album in huge quantities. 4 Quote

A little compression is good, it gives it that professional sound, but too much is too much and it strips away the tonal nuances. Did you read that, Green DAY MANAGEMENT??? pass it on to the engingeers: LESS COMPRESSION. 20 minutes ago, XxXxXxXxX said: oh boy... someone should post this on a thread where Green Day management can see it, maybe it will have a bit of influence... management is obviously reading at least some of GDA after they attacked the Jason Freese thread. solongfromthestars Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 I'd managed not to get too excited about the tour rumours, but I had a dream that I was lining up for GD at the Genting Arena in Birmingham (first place I saw them) last night and now I'm at that stage of insanity that's being excited even about lining up. Hurry up guys. 3 Quote
Mary Daze Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Yes!!!! I'm already making plans a little bit pathetic, I know. but the excitement is overfloating. I'll be able to go by car on this tour, which makes some aspects a lot easier to handle! Can't we have more information about all this? I'm dying to know what sound they're aiming for this time and the tour dates! Ahhhhhhh Quote
solongfromthestars Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Doesn't sound pathetic to me but maybe that's because I am too I started working extra hours and saving money earlier this year. And thinking about which shows I'll try to get to... now the excitement has come on it's way too much! I really hope they do a full UK tour like they did in 2009. Quote
Mary711 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 My plan is to wait for the tour dates and then pick the cities I'd like to visit the most. There're a few European cities I'd love to visit rather sooner than later and there's no better way than combining a city trip with Green Day. Then there's the aspect of shows being on weekends or not because I need to look if it's possible to take days off or not. And of course it's important who else is going to the shows I consider so we could meet up and share rooms and stuff like that. Can't wait for it. Quote
Mary Daze Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I'm extra excited for this tour because it will be my boyfriend's first Green Day concert, it'd be so cool if he then started to hype Green Day like I do. Quote

I already took mine to one show and he liked it and the band but that's it for him. He said he will join me again for one show on the next tour though which is pretty nice. Quote

That's nice! mine already likes Green Day a lot, although he's kinda skeptical if the're really THAT good live. If he likes them live then he'll definitely join me for 3-4 shows, depends on where they are. He'd love to see Hamburg one day so maybe we can combine that. Quote

BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 This is really weird but I'm not that excited. Speculating is fun but I'm still on a very low level of crazy. 1 Quote

I'm more excited right now for the Geezer movie after seeing those screen shots on the new Instagram/twitter! 1 Quote

Siddharth_471 Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I haven't listened to the original but this has surely become my favourite cover by Green Day: https://youtu.be/ElE4tju7NHQ Quote

I listened to them for the first time and what amazed me was that guy was playing double-bass drums which is commonly used in Metal. GD should also move in this direction. Quote
