It's funny, every single album released pre-2014 will have an anniversary this year.

AI was definitely more popular, and will probably outsell Dookie in the long run, but Dookie brought a whole new wave of punk/pop punk bands into the mainstream/public eye. Blink, The Offspring, and Bad Religion owe a lot of their popularity to GD, and some bands, such as Sum 41 owe their entire existence to it.

On the other hand, out of AI we got bands like Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, and New Found Glory. Dookie definitely wins there.

New Found Glory's most popular and probably most successful album, Sticks and Stones, came out in 2002, 2 years before AI. Fall out boy credits their origin to NFG

I never said AI created those bands, just that they got big off the back of them. It inspired a huge pop punk revival. Unfortunately, 99% of those bands were fucking awful.

Catalyst charted higher in the US and Australia and was easily their best album. Just saying :P

It's a shame they're to blame for Fall Out Boy, NFG are awesome.

Indeed. Gerard Way says hi.

well NFG was big before AI haha and the early 2000s "drive thru records" pop-punk boom happened before 2004
