Please explain what this means? I'm a little confused :ermm:

The Squier Stratocaster he signed has single-coil pickups. They look like this:

Generally single coil pickups are considered better for playing "clean," and some people say they have sort of a more trebly-midrange sound about them.

This is a humbucker:

You might be thinking, "hey. That looks like two single-coil pickups stuck together." And you'd be right to an extent - except the two pickups are oriented with opposing magnetic polarities. It's all very technical. The important thing is that humbuckers produce a much more "meaty" sound out of a guitar because the magnetic coils are doubled. This gets you that classic Lookout! / Dookie / Insomniac sound.

Anyway, the joke was that I wasn't going to bid on the car (which I can't afford anyway) because the guitar had inferior pickups.

Here is the car when the previous owner had it

This car was featured in January of this year as a seller submission and the seller later sent us a followup message saying that the car had sold to Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day. Actually, it was picked up by one of his "people"

We have even heard internet chatter about folks seeing the giant black haired guitarist driving this car around near his home (or at least someone claimed to live near him..yaddy-yah).

Lol "Giant black haired guitarist." As long as the "giant" refers to the hair and not the guitarist.

So Billie only really owned this thing for like 11 months. He had his way with it and then threw it to the streets like a dirty, used whore.

i'm nearly embarressed to say but i think my savings could cover buying this BUT IT WOULD BE A STUPID PURCHASE

Billie short on cash?

Hardly! Super-rich people sell stuff all the time as well as buying stuff all the time, no point in keeping large items that take up loads of space if you're not using them any more and have plenty of others that you are using.

I know, Just a ironic joke.

Ahh fair enough then! Seen a few people in other places who seem to actually be genuinely concerned just because he's sold a few things over the course of a year so I didn't realize haha.

$27k bid and reserve not yet met. Wonder what they're wanting the car to sell for?

My guess it will go over $30,000. Whoever gets this car is one rich lucky person. We shall see....

I wonder if it will actually sell. They gotta meet the reserve.

Hopefully the person selling the car hasn't put a ridiculous reserve on it.

I would expect nothing less.

I know nothing of car sales. What's the reserve? The amount of profit the dealer intends to make?

It's nothing to do with cars, it's an auction term. It's the minimum amount the seller is willing to let the item go for.

I see. And do we assume Billie set the reserve, or whoever is running this auction?

Most likely whoever's running it. I doubt Billie would quibble over a few thousand bucks.

Got to $30,001.00 and no one reached the reserve.

So does it get sold at that amount anyway? Otherwise it's just a stalemate.

Nope. The reserve is pretty much the lowest price the person will let the car go for it.
