So basically Green Day could win a grammy for their 3rd consecutive album year in a row even though this was by far their worst of all time besides MAYBE Warning? On top of a fucking EMA? I don't fucking understand it.

Which nominations do you think are the "good ones" because I am only seeing the crap right now (I assume you're not looking at the pop/main sections because those hurt my soul.

I was surprised to look at the list and realize I don't recognize a lot of the major contenders. It's also like "deep sigh" when there are no rock songs/artists/albums up for the main categories (I guess besides Radioactive/Imagine Dragons). Though I can say I am offended that Blurred Lines was nominated for Record of the Year and I think the Bruno Mars song with the shitty "And. The. Sex. Takes. Me. To. Paradise." is so cringe-worthy I can't even watch that category announced when this thing airs

But the Gary Clark Jr nominations are great

I like Bruno not particularly the song he's nominated for but he's a great muscian and song writer who gets overlooked by alot cause they think hes like a Bieber or whatever

But I was talking more of the rap section the spoken word section blues comedy section of it I usually pass over the pop and country part as I dont really know current artists

They usually mention the Producer of the Year in some way, but I agree nothing will really come of any of this besides "Yay for ____" on GDC.

Yeah i was talking about Cuatro, lol. Figured Covallo would win that one if it were selected. I just thought it had a little bit more to do with direction than anything. But that's more of an oscar thing I guess.

The Trilogy was completely irrelevant to the radio.. unlike any of their other albums. I think the only hit that did as bad as Oh Love was Minority. There was nothing even like Brain Stew or Nice Guys Finish Last on it. Which is why I'm rather surprised at their success. They're one of the most relevant bands to MTV probably of all time though so that explains the EMA.

By Green Day standards, the trilogy did very poorly. In a general sense, they were mediocre at best. When you've got to live up to a decade of American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, the Trilogy didn't do what they had to do to remain the most popular band on Earth. But apparently they still are, at least according to MTV's viewers. Probably just the fangirls that vote 12903820 times a day.

Great news, but I was hoping for a Best Rock Album nomination??? I know there are millions of different opinions, but to me they deserved it, at least for ¡TRÉ! (which for me is the one that has more different styles of melodies. And the lyrics! It's a wonderful record) What's going on with the awards lately?

What does the Grammys have to do with tumblr?

Grammys are voted by Grammy voting members...

But yeah the trilogy wouldnt get nominated due to the lack of sales and attention it got but the time voting for nominations starts alot of albums get overlooked that werent huge in charts or constantly talked about to keep it on people's mind I have a theory Cuatro was nominated in some ways due to it being shown at SxSW and some other festivals (i can say from experience with the Grammys that voters pay attention to sxsw and other big festivals as well)

I don't think the Trilogy wasn't nominated because it didn't get much attention.Sum 41's Blood In My Eyes got a nomination last year and their album sold worse than Uno.As much as you don't want to believe it it isn't good.Of course people here like it but even here reaction has been lukewarm.And almost everyone outside the green day fanbase says it was just ok at best.

It just doesn't deserve to be nominated.
