This thread is a microcosm of GDC.

People who care about Green Day showing a little emotion. Ridiculous, right?

Emotion is for the weak. Green Day are only as strong as their fans. Therefore they are weak, which is why they broke up.

people in facebook brezil are going crazy claiming that this is the end for GD...

bunch of idiots that can't interpretate a statement

this is why they never listen to the pleas of "come to brazil! come to brazil!"

Guys please calm down. They take breaks after every album this isnt new. Their batteries will be recharged and theyll begin working on whatever they have planned. They gave us three albums and headlined a few gigantic festivals and broadway idiot and foreverly and just relax guys. theyll be back sooner than we know. FYI i didnt get to see them on tour. Actually ive NEVER gotten to see them on tour in the 9 years ive loved this band. Im upset they wont have a second leg but im willing to be patient. Personally im pretty excited even though it might be awhile before they do something big. But remember this band is very unpredictable. Just enjoy what theyve given us already and soon enough we'll get news for whatever theyre doing next.

what the fuck do you guys expect from this group? They just released 3 albums. None of which did very well. Billie Joe was in rehab, had a pretty short stint there and came out and went literally RIGHT back on tour. This isn't a hiatus, its a break, everyone takes them. This doesn't mean they won't be doing little random shows, they could very well go schedule a massive stadium show to celebrate Dookie and AI. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. To be honest, I have no idea why they'd give a shit. It was 20 years ago that they released Dookie. They played the album in full like 4 times already. 10 years ago for American Idiot. They already play almost everything off of those albums every tour anyway so I don't really know what else they could do.

I really can't believe that people are surprised and/or annoyed at this. Try going around the world in less than a year with a frontman popped up on pills or just getting out of rehab playing in front of at least 20 thousand people 4 days of every week. You'd want a break too. You have to be the dumbest fucking person around to be pissed off at the worlds biggest rock group for taking some time off. It'll be like 6 months to a year and they'll get back in the studio. FFS they took 5 years to release an album after American Idiot, and 4 years after 21CB. I'd think that would build up some patience.

Exactly. agree with you.

I figured the amount of time between Europe/US and Australia was their "break"

guess I'll have to wait 6 or 7 years to see them again.

I really hope Billie sticks with recording in secret, it'll always be a fun surprise when a record is announced that way.

Brazilian are always more asking than others I noticed.

Though, I ain't got any problem with the break.

You just brought Wesley Crusher in. Things are getting serious now.

They did this for the AI tour. Australia was the last stop on that tour and the band took a 3 year break. Hope it's the same this time. The band needs and deserves break and anyone who says they don't is a fucking selfish moron. :)

"Band takes break between touring and recording"

Breaking news right there!

THIS

I'm a bit sad that they didn't tour Asia, South America & re-scheduled new dates for the cancelled North American gigs... but it's the best for them to take a break right now, especially after Billie's rehab. DON'T BANDS USUALLY TAKE BREAKS BETWEEN RECORDING AND TOURING?? NME

However, I can understand if some fans are disappointed or sad because of this "news" - it must be awful to wait to see your favorite band for ~8 years. :(

Maybe they secretly work on new stuff already :sherlock: Billie is busy with the "These Paper Bullets" thing, I guess.

Oh yes we know :D :D (eloquent spoiler)

You're quite right, it hard to wait so long to see them. I hoped so hard a surprise festival next summer but I expected the little break at the same time.

Bittersweet feeling then, I'm happy for them and sad too...

It's pretty normal that they need to take a while, rest, gather inspiration etc. I'm only hoping it won't be for too many years! Green Day is like, the band I started with and one of the few bands I got left. This whole thing doesn't sound bad in any way to me though :D

tbh I was surprised that this was even an article on wherever the source was (NME?)... don't bands always take breaks between albums?

Exactly haha. I'm still kind of surprised that this is even thread worthy...

I dont see what the big deal is. After they finished touring American Idiot they went missing for nearly 4 years. I cant imagine any break they will take being as long as that.

Well it is, just for the fact that some people were expecting more touring after the Australian tour (including myself). Specially because of the EMA thing, where Billie said they'll see us on tour soon.

So I guess this means, next tour! Which I'm totally ok with. I'm actually really excited for the next few years and for what will come next! :D They deserve taking a break, and since they've done that in between albums before, nothing new about it.

I`m not even going to bother reading all the posts in this thread. I`ve read way too many threads like this before. At the end of every tour some bright spark comes along and says the band is splitting up. One day somebody might just be right!

I did the "omg they`ve split up??" thing years ago when The Stone Roses first started losing members. Broke my heart. But I lived.

Quit worrying about what the band is doing and start worrying about what is going on in the rest of the world.

they went literally everywhere but the uk on 99 revolutions tour and now the uk have to wait way fucking longer than we already did for another tour? :fuckyou:

sorry for being a selfish bastard, I'm just really impatient and I've been waiting for so long. I get that Billie's doing some Foreverly promo, and that he's writing some music for these paper bullets, but I'm just so disappointed, the reason I didn't buy tickets for emirates is because I assumed that they were going to do a tour in mid-2014 but I'm clearly wrong.

Literally everywhere. Except, you know, most of the world.

Green Day always take breaks after their album tours. It may be a short break like 2010-2011, or a long break like 2006-2008. But I'm sure we'll see side projects/secret shows/compilation albums/live albums or something released, they always do at least one of those during break

Posted

People need to realise that Green Day cares, primarily, about themselves and not their fans, and that is the way it should be.

i'm not mad about this, but is really disgusting have to wait to see your favorite band so many years :(
last time took 12 years to they return to Chile

heres what i want to know

why is everyone saying you have to wait like 8 years
