Hermione Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 "Band takes break between touring and recording" Breaking news right there! Lol exacty. "GREEN DAY DOES WHAT THEY ALWAYS DO", START CRYING AND ALERT THE PRESSES! Bit of a shame they didn't tour as much as usual for these albums, and particularly that planned shows and legs of tours ended up not happening (even though given the circumstances it was to be expected). But the mere fact that they're taking a break before the next album having finished touring is non-news.
Milo Goes To Pasalacqua Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 But wait... This kinda actually fucks things up: 1994: GD change alternative music forever with Dookie, followed by ten years of dwindling success and the commercial low-point that was Warning. Then, 2004: GD makes a come-back that has never been pulled off before and releases the career-defining American Idiot, ten years after their first magnum opus. Followed by another ten years of dwindling success and the flop that was the trilogy (except it wasn't underrated as Warning was...). And another ten years later, 2014: we were due another masterpiece. Hmmm. Well hey, if time is what it will take, i can wait.
Amanda Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 we don't need another breakdown again.Indeed, one of those per century is more than enough.
Spike Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 My only real thought is "meh." It's what happens. Green Day do traditionally work non-stop, but look what that led to. If more breaks means they can keep going for longer then so be it. We're not 'due another masterpiece' or anything, it was a total fluke that American Idiot happened 10 years after Dookie and it's pointless to read anything into it.
Certified Nimrod Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Indeed, one of those per century is more than enough. You.
rootbeersoup Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Don't worry guys. It only took Blink 182 five years to get back together after their hiatus. And they're even more successful now than they were then!
Dai. Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 MotherFUCKERS. What about the South American tour?!
stich Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Don't worry guys. It only took Blink 182 five years to get back together after their hiatus. And they're even more successful now than they were then! I don't think Blink 182 it's more successful; they've rich their peak with Enema Of The State & Take Off Your Pants And Jackes, the rest is just an average for the mainstrem crowd MotherFUCKERS. What about the South American tour?! Also Asia tour?

R_Z-Log Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Well, it's definitely not the end of the world, and it will be good for them... I guess I'll stop holding my breath for the tour announcement :-( Maybe 2015!
rootbeersoup Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 MotherFUCKERS. What about the South American tour?! They read your GDC posts and were scared off Good going
Sika Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 OT for a sec - can't believe Warning and the trilogy had the same sales the quality in my useless opinion is not comparable...anyway lets hope these Aussie dates are full of energy and not telling of a band in need of a break...end of selfish rant
Awesompawsome Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 As much as this annoys the piss out of me at least we'll have the foos new record and for sure something for Dookie and AI
doworkson123123 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Good. They need it. Hopefully they come back even more ambitious and better than ever.
Akshat Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I can finally concentrate on my studies, maybe have a social life and meet a few chicks. I'm so exited! Can't wait to talk about how Nimrod is better than any other Green Day album!
Nemo. Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 They should take a break if they need it. And I don't doubt that they need it. The last one and a half year was pretty tough for the guys. I'm a disappointed of course, I had my hopes up for a REAL european tour but fuck it. The positive thing is, that I can focus on other bands and 2014 will definitely rock.
Mr Panda Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 maybe they are planning to stay undercover so as to record a 3 way collision course with Afrojack and Eminem?
Asa. Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I can finally concentrate on my studies, maybe have a social life and meet a few chicks. I'm so exited! Can't wait to talk about how Nimrod is better than any other Green Day album! meeting chicks was my first thought when I found about this, as well.
JellyTime Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I was sure that they'll do Dookie/AI tour in 2014, but now I'm quite confused. Probably they need a break, but I hope it won't be long.
jumpsalty Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Don't forget, billie said he prefers making albums in secret now and not talking about it till after, like with norah. So even when they do go back into the studio I wouldn't expect much news!
Jean Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I have no problem with them taking a break except that it feels like they spent half the year on break already with the odd appearance here and there at film fests and a couple of months of touring.
Akshat Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 maybe they are planning to stay undercover so as to record a 3 way collision course with Afrojack and Eminem? Can't wait to hear Insane Fuck Time, White American Idiot, My Name is Lady Cobra, The Real Basket Case and Good Fack
BringMoreKnives Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 This isn't surprising, I expected them to take a break next year anyway.
Certified Nimrod Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Don't forget, billie said he prefers making albums in secret now and not talking about it till after, like with norah. When did he say that?
Beezey Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Would like to see Billie Joe painting more awesome state decks and also turning then into screen-printed T-shirts...and doing things like that...maybe they are going to do a side project like FBHT for a bit - there was that recent gig.. Don't forget, billie said he prefers making albums in secret now and not talking about it till after, like with norah. So even when they do go back into the studio I wouldn't expect much news! Stop Stirring up stuff.
