MaraGreenDay Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Looks like we were right when we said that the Instagram defriending meant something. You're kidding right?
KilljoyFromDetroit Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I would rather them take a break like this than come out with another "Trilogy" or do more tours promoting it Going away for a few years will (hopefully) change their sound from that and everything will be fine and dandy
WestboundSign! Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 This honestly is what I expected.. it felt typical for them to just leave the trilogy behind after what has happened, take a break, get creative again and then put out a masterpiece after a few years. I still had a little bit of hope they'd play a few more shows in 2014, apart from Australia. This hope is pretty much gone now, but who knows. I'm excited to see what's next, no matter how long the wait will be. They need a break and I guess we're all aware of that.
petros Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 That's exactly what the band needed. Take a break, relax, solve all your health or whatever problems and during that when it feels right right songs or music ideas. Don't push it too far and that's when the good things start happening!
Pule92 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Really? Like REALLY do you think they need a fucking break? Break of what? Maybe i'm just pissed off because as a South American fan they are letting me down (again) but they did an European tour ending July 13th, then they returned August 21th for only 3 gigs (again in Europe), then the last gig in San Francisco a few days ago and you really think they need a break? Even Billie Joe is saying they were not doing much! "We're going to Australia, doing a tour there and then we're going to take a break. We haven't really been doing much. " Maybe because you guys have seen them like million times, but here in South America is not the case. And please don't start with that shit of logistics of moving the band to another country because they have 5 gigs coming in Australia that are for sure not more worth than coming to South America with Rock in Rio coming and 3 Lollapalooza's. Don't hate me but just try to put your feet in our shoes for one sec.

Of course I'm dying to see them but as Billie said, they need to recharge themselves criatively. Billie is already experimenting with his project with Norah... Sometimes you have to let your brain relax, explore other territories so when it comes back, it comes back in full force. And this is what they've done between albuns so it's not exactly news... I'm extremely curious about what's to come after all this.

I'm from México and i'm dying to see them live since 8 years ago, it's been really hard for me not to see them when almost all the time i see people here who already see them more than three times, but they really need a break, especially after what happen last year with Billie. They are humans not robots who can work all the time, so you have to understand that and if you're not, i feel sorry for you... All that we can do it's wait for what's coming next, that's it.
inthehallwaynow Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 i feel kinda bad for not caring (didnt see hananahs post beefour)

If they feel a break is what's best for them right now, it is what it is. The Trilogy albums didn't do well at all sales wise; compared to AI and 21CB they did awful, and they're not going to tour for albums that weren't all that wildly accepted. I'm sorry if you felt as if they let you down, but they're not entitled to go where you want them to go. They can't play everywhere.

I'm extremely curious about what's to come after all this. Sorry but I'm not asking them to start writing again or sth like that. I'm just asking for a South American tour like all the fucking world had. I mean, they are doing 5 gigs in Australia which talking about logistics it's not like moving around the US.
Eva Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Is anyone really surprised though? It's not like they've been doing anything incredibly important, other than touring, 'cause the trilogy was a bust. They always take breaks between albums. It's not a big deal. Let 'em get their shit together for a bit so they can release something a majority of their fans will actually like.

Undómiel Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 tbh I was surprised that this was even an article on wherever the source was (NME?)... don't bands always take breaks between albums?

Eva Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 That's the third band that I like that has broken up or taken a break this year. I don't think it's going to be a long break. And if it is, it'll probably be like the break between Warning and American Idiot, or American Idiot and 21st Century. They just gotta get their shit together and get a little more creative, y'know? I highly doubt it'll be a permanent thing or something where we won't hear from them for years. I think it's a little early; they only tour a year for the trilogy, it's the shortest tour ever That 'cause the trilogy was pretty much a giant failure. It didn't sell anywhere near as well as AI or 21CB or any of their other albums (except maybe Warning? Not sure how the trilogy and Warning compare, tbh). They're not going to spend time and money touring for albums that no one really likes. It's not practical.
Annie, get your gun Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 This makes me extremely sad... and I don't like it. But what can I say? I'm a selfish, heartless Green Day fan that was waiting for only 1 chance to see them live on tour, in my country or course, 'cause I don't have any money to travel around the world for them, and now I know I have to suck it up and keep waiting, because with them everything's unpredictable
Certified Nimrod Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 The thing is though, I thought he would do a little Foreverly tour with Norah Jones. I guess thats off the table, or is it going on? I hope that happens, but I doubt it will. :/
Beezey Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 This is a good thing - think about it. It has only been 14 months since....and they need to take a holiday and chil out, surf and paint some awesome skate decks....They cannot get exhaused or burn out its unhealthy.

I dont think alot of people received the trilogy well - personally it did not make sense and because GD are know to write from experience it just started loads of rumours and speculation...and anyway I didnt know the extent of their immaturity till then.
HolyHandGrenade Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I think if this break results in the "90's version of American Idiot" like many have expressed their desire for, it'll totally be worth it. Just imagine St. Jimmy singing F.O.D. and Geek Stink Breath
Eva Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I hope that happens, but I doubt it will. :/ For some reason, I thought I had read something Billie said that was hinting at a Foreverly tour, but maybe not...? I can't remember. I feel like he had said it was a possibility at one point though. idk.

It's not their fault.
